Just clarifying for a slightly misleading thread title

In all honesty no JFF and Sumlin wouldnt even be in this debate(yet). He is a damn fine coach, my second favorite actually but that was the best possible 1st season he could have had. He runs that uptempo stuff that the SEC wasnt used to. If he can do it again after we know what he is going to do then he will be undisputed. Same goes for Freeze imo. That Oregon type O is going to be exposed this year in the SEC im affraid.

Yeah...that fight was bad and Holtz resigned shortly there after. But that still doesn't defeat my point. Holtz got the ball rolling at South Carolina. I don't know why people refuse to give him credit where credit is due because, prior to 2011, their 9-3 season in 2001 was the best one South Carolina had had in what seems like forever.

Things started to slip the last couple of years as Holtz started losing his touch but there is no denying what he did to South Carolina's program. He gave them the shot in the arm they needed and made it possible for someone like Spurrier to come in and have success.

A&M doesn't run an Oregon type offense.

I call all that fast paced stuff Oregon type. They are the ones who made it trend after all.

In defense of Franklin, the last time Vanderbilt won 9 games before 2012 was 1915. Texas A&M has had 9+ win seasons more recently.

I'm not claiming Franklin shouldn't be considered. However if you preclude Sumlin because he's a first year coach it's just silly homerism. But it's not surprising considering the OP.

WTF are you talking about? 1 good Year at aTm does not outweigh 2 good years at Vandy. Are you serious?
