One thing very interesting about this massive hiring offseason for the SEC West is almost every program is getting their first pick for coaches.

Mississippi State got their guy without trouble.

Ole Miss got their guy without trouble.

A&M got their guy without trouble.

Auburn kept their guy without trouble.

Meanwhile the SEC East has two teams who had to resort to third picks or worse to get their guy.

Either this shows us the attractiveness of the SEC West, or the delusion of the SEC East. It is interesting either way.

Only because Arky was trying to steal a fellow SEC West Coach.

Bama hasn't had to hire someone for so long it doesn't count.

That means pretty much all of the SEC West has success with their first choice except when that first choice is at another SEC West program.

East took one of the west teams guys.
OM folded on searching for a coach.
A&M and AU paying insane money for what they get.

I don't think it shows either one. Florida got their first choice in Mullen. Tennessee had to fire their AD. Who else was looking for a coach in the East this year? UGa got their first choice 2 years ago. So did South Carolina. Missouri didn't have trouble replacing Pinkel. Stoops was just given an extension at Kentucky.

False. We know for a fact they tried to get Chip Kelly and Frost before settling with Mullen.

Even if he was I expect yall to get your first choice outside of the SEC West easily.

Any SEC West program willing to spend competitive money on a head coach will get who they want.

Did every SEC West program get their first choice?

State and Ole Miss just hired assistant coaches. You really think either of those two schools could get whoever they wanted if whoever they wanted were more established coaches? I mean, State LOST their head coach to an East school

I think part of the recent success for SEC West hires has been the fact that programs stay in their lane and go after realistic targets.

We didn't see Tenn or UF go after realistic top targets in their searches and it backfired on them.

Yeah after he lost an Egg Bowl. They wanted to upgrade.

Did it really backfire on Florida? Dan Mullen was a great hire. Arkansas tried to lure away a coach from a better program that was playing in the SEC title game. How realistic do you think that was? But at the end of the day, only 2 SEC East schools were even looking for coaches. One made a good hire, one is TBD.

Pretty sad LSU didn't get their first, second, or third choices, but got a project hire at best. However, paying him millions of dollars less and yet he's beating several with higher salaries. I hope the ROI for your programs works out

Sure thing, they got publicly rejected for UCLA.

Maybe, I think his recruiting is below what it needs to be for UF.

They got pretty close if Gus's contract tells us anything.

I am honestly surprised you expected better in this thread. I barely hid the hook. I am mostly responding now because I respect you.
