Then why are the head to head records comparable most years?

There a reason you copied that?

Yall want a cookie for having a terrible rival?
Since 1980, GT has averaged 6.3 wins a year. Outside of a very few separate years, they're been average to bad.

Hmmm...sounds like the TSIO topic on here.

Tennessee being bad for the last 12 years has really hurt the SEC East, and USC, Kentucky, Vandy, and Missouri haven't been able to fill their shoes.

The East is basically Georgia and Florida at the top.
The West has LSU and Bama which are better than both UF and UGA plus add in Auburn and A&M

Link?
Feels like the SEC West has solidly held the head to head for a while now. I know in the SECCG it’s gone like this (ie total domination):
2009 W
2010 W
2011 W
2012 W
2013 W
2014 W
2015 W
2016 W
2017 E
2018 W
2019 W
2020 W

I won't say we're even because we haven't beaten Bama or Auburn yet (or even Miss St) but now that we have a coach who can and will recruit top talent, it's comin baw.

You can keep going for A&M for a while and back. Only 1 real exception.
A&M
2000 - Notre Dame
2001 - Notre Dame
2002 - Lousiville (Sun Belt), Virginia Tech (Big East), Pitt (Big East)
2003 - Utah (MW), Virginia Tech (Big East), Pitt (Big East)
2004 - Utah (MW), Clemson
2005 - Clemson
2006 - Army
2007 - Miami
2008 - Miami
2009 - Arkansas
2010 - Arkanss
2011 - Arkansas
2012 - none
2013 - none
2014 - none
2015 - Arizona St
2016 - UCLA
2017 - UCLA
2018 - Clemson
2019 - Clemson
2020 - No OOC
2021 - Colorado
2022 - Miami
2023 - Miami
2024 - Notre Dame
2025 - Notre Dame
2026 - Arizona St
2027 - Arizona St
2028 - Louisville
2029 - Louisville
The only time we didn't have a P5 OOC opponent was when we switched conference. In 2009 we set up a long-term OOC game with Arkansas. When we joined the SEC we tried to find a replacement, but couldn't, especially when all the Big 12 teams were boycotting us. We were stuck for a couple years.
Does this "study" account for independent, Big East, and future P5 teams?

Michigan also backed out of a home and home with Arkansas during that stretch.
Hopefully, as Pittman turns us competitive again, we can keep upgrading thes schedule.

Your 2021 class was ranked like 28th.
That's behind Mississippi State.

Comparable? Starting with 2012, the East has only won the head to head in one year ('18) and has tied the West in two ('12 & '19). In all of the other years except 2013, the West was a minimum of 4 games above .500.

A&M has a winning % of 80% vs the East. The east is absolutely easier. If we could switch, I would. We'd have multiple division titles by now.
