This is an important weeekend.

#18 Auburn at Kentucky - Auburn is still playing for the WEST title, a host spot, and potentially a top 8. UK is playing to keep their spot in Hoover.

Missouri at #25 Georgia - Georgia playing to host. MU is playing to get a spot in Hoover.

#5 Arkansas at Alabama – Arkansas is still playing for the WEST title, a host spot, and potentially a top 8.

South Carolina at Florida - maybe not a ton of stakes here.

#1 Tennessee at Mississippi State - I guess UT is playing to keep #1 overall, but I think its safe. MSU is playing for Hoover.

#4 Texas A&M at #20 Ole Miss - Texas A&M is still playing for the WEST title, a host spot, and potentially a top 8. OM is fighting to stay on the right side of the tourney bubble.

#21 LSU at #11 Vanderbilt - Vandy is playing for a host and potentially a national seed. Lsu is probably safe, but wants to avoid the sweep and bubble.

Tennessee clinches SEC title; Arkansas, Texas A&M tied atop Western Division

• Tennessee clinched the SEC title last weekend, its first since 1995. The Vols will be the No. 1 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament. Arkansas and Texas A&M enter the final week of the regular season tied atop the Western Division standings.

• Seven SEC teams enter the final week of the regular season ranked in the top-25 of the major national polls. In the RPI, four SEC teams are ranked in the top-seven and six are in the top-19 through games of May 18. Tennessee is No. 1, Vanderbilt is No. 3, Auburn is No. 4, Georgia is No. 7, Florida is No. 13 and Texas A&M is No. 19.

• Entering the weekend, Tennessee leads the nation in team ERA (2.32), home runs (126) and slugging percentage (.605). Vanderbilt leads the country with 10 shutouts. Individually, Tennessee’s Chase Dollander leads the nation in WHIP (0.76).

• SEC teams have compiled a .775 winning percentage in non-conference games this season.

For UK Mingione may well be coaching for his continued employment...
Same for Bieser at Missouri but he has two years left on his contract, and both an AD and President who collectively haven't shown much enthusiasm about supporting baseball.

Tennessee has clinched the overall and Eastern Division titles. Tennessee will lead the conference standings from week one to week 10. The last team to lead the conference standings wire-to-wire was Vanderbilt in 2013.

Texas A&M and Arkansas will vie for the Western Division title over the final three SEC games. Should they tie, the Aggies own the tiebreaker over the Razorbacks by virtue of a 2-1 series victory in week 6.

The largest SEC Eastern Division title was 9 games by 2013 Vanderbilt. The largest SEC Western Division title was 4.5 games by 2013 LSU. The largest SEC overall title was 5.5 games by 2000 S. Carolina.

Only four teams prior to expansion in 1992 won 20+ SEC games: LSU 1986 (22-5), Florida 1988 (21-6), Mississippi State 1989 (20-5), LSU 1990 (20-7).

If two teams are not divisional opponents:
(1) Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed using common opponents only (and proceeding through the No. 12 seed, if necessary).
(2) Coin flip by the Commissioner

So who had a better record vs Tennessee, then who had a better record vs the #2 seed (Ark or A&M) and on down the list until the tie is broken.

Auburn (36-16, 15-11 SEC) at Kentucky (28-23, 10-17 SEC)
These teams are meeting for the fifth time in the last 10 seasons after meeting annually between 2002-11. Auburn owns a 14-6 series lead since 1992, Kentucky has won the last two in 2018 and 2021, including a sweep of the Tigers in Auburn last year. Auburn’s last sweep over Kentucky came in Lexington in 2011. Between 1993-2011, Auburn won 13 of 15 series, but Kentucky has won three of the last four.

Auburn has posted 15+ SEC wins for the third time in the last five seasons and can record its most conference victories since it went 20-10 in 2010 (15-15 in 2018, 16 14 in 2017) with a series victory. The Tigers won their first two road series (Texas A&M & LSU) but have dropped their last two (Mississippi State & Tennessee). Auburn, who is playing on the road to close out SEC play for the third consecutive season, is 8-4 in conference play since starting 7-7.

Kentucky returns home where it has posted a 6-6 mark and owns series victories over Georgia and Tennessee. The Wildcats own a one-game lead over Mississippi State for the 12th spot in the SEC Tournament. Kentucky needs two wins to match last year’s SEC win total. For the third time in the last 13 seasons, the Wildcats close SEC play at home.

Auburn Rotation
Game 1: Jr. RHP Mason Barnett (2-1, 4.12 ERA)
Game 2: Jr. RHP Trace Bright (2-4, 4.76 ERA)
Game 3: So. RHP Joseph Gonzalez (6-2, 2.98 ERA)

Kentucky Rotation

Arkansas (37-14, 17-10 SEC) at Alabama (27-24, 10-16 SEC)
Arkansas has won four straight series and eight of the last nine over Alabama. Due to that run, the Crimson Tide’s series advantage has shrunk to 15-14 and regular season game total of 44-42 since Arkansas joined the SEC in 1992. Twelve of the 29 series have resulted in sweeps, six by each school. Arkansas’ last sweep came in Fayetteville in 2018 and in Tuscaloosa in 2015. Alabama’s last sweep occurred in 2016 in Fayetteville and last in Tuscaloosa in 2009. Alabama won 10 of 12 series between 1992-2003. Since then, Arkansas has won 12 of 17 series.

Arkansas is 6-6 after starting SEC play 11-4. The Razorbacks have two conference road series wins this season (Missouri and Auburn). Arkansas needs one more win to reach 18+ conference wins for the fifth consecutive season. The last team to do it was Florida from 2014-18. The Razorbacks have an opportunity to become the first team to win 20+ SEC games in three straight seasons since LSU from 1996-98.

After starting 8-5, Alabama has slumped to a 2-11 record over its last 13 SEC games, including three consecutive losses. The Crimson Tide, who have dropped their last five series, need to win two this weekend to match last year’s conference win total.

Arkansas Rotation
Game 1: RSo. RHP Will McEntire (1-1, 1.96 ERA)
Game 2: Sr. RHP Connor Noland (5-3, 3.38 ERA)
Game 3: So. RHP Jaxon Wiggins (6-2, 5.31 ERA)

Alabama Rotation
Game 1: Jr. RHP Garrett McMillan (4-4, 3.51 ERA)
Game 2: Sr. RHP Jacob McNairy (5-2, 4.60 ERA)
Game 3: So. LHP Grayson Hitt (4-3, 5.02 ERA)

South Carolina (26-25, 12-15 SEC) at Florida (33-19, 13-14 SEC)
South Carolina sweep over Florida last season snapped an eight series undefeated streak by Florida between 2012-19 (7-0-1). As a result, the series is knotted at 14-14-1 since the Gamecocks joined the SEC in 1992. The Gators own a 45-41 lead in regular season games thanks to a 5-3 lead in sweeps. Since 2009, Florida owns a 9-2-1 series lead. The Gators last swept the Gamecocks in 2015 in Gainesville.

South Carolina has rebounded with a 6-3 mark in its last nine SEC games after starting 6-12. The Gamecocks, who won four of five home series, are seeking their first conference road series victory of the season where they are 2-10 in games played. It marked the 13 time in the last 24 seasons South Carolina won at least four SEC home series. The Gamecocks are closing out SEC play on the road for the seventh time in the last nine seasons.

Florida has won its last three series and is 7-2 in that span after starting 6-12 in SEC play. The Gators finished 8-7 on the road after going 9-21 the previous two seasons. They won two of their last three home series (Arkansas and Kentucky). A series victory guarantees Florida finishes .500 or better in SEC play for the seventh time in the last eight seasons. They are closing out SEC play at home for the first time since 2017.

South Carolina Rotation
Game 1: Jr. RHP Brett Thomas (1-1, 5.85 ERA)
Game 2: Jr. RHP Noah Hall (3-4, 4.40 ERA)
Game 3: So. RHP Will Sanders (7-3, 3.76 ERA)

Florida Rotation
Game 1: So. RHP Brandon Sproat (7-4, 3.97 ERA)
Game 2: Fr. RHP Brandon Neely (2-1, 3.86 ERA)
Game 3: RSo. RHP Nick Pogue (3-2, 4.70 ERA)

LSU (34-18, 14-13 SEC) at Vanderbilt (35-16, 14-13 SEC)
Vanderbilt has won the last two series, including a sweep last season, and eight of the last nine after LSU won 10 of 12 series between 1994-2005. LSU now holds a slim 11 10 series lead since 1994 with the regular-season games tied at 31-31. LSU’s last series win came in Baton Rouge in 2016, while its last series win in Nashville occurred in 2005. The Commodores own three series sweeps in the last eight series (2007, 2011, 2021). The Tigers’ last sweep came in Baton Rouge in 1997.

LSU needs one more victory to finish .500 or better in SEC play for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons. The Tigers, who have played three of their last four series at home, have won three of their last four series overall. LSU closes out SEC play on the road for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The Tigers are in position to record at least four SEC road series victories in back-to-back seasons (4-1 in 2021, 3-1 in 2022) for the first time since 2004-05 (5-0 in 2004, 4-1 in 2005).

Vanderbilt, which has played three of its last four series on the road, has won its last two series and four of its last five. For only the second time in their last 20 games, the Commodores sit above .500 in the SEC standings. They need one victory to extend their streak of finishing .500 or better in SEC play to 12 seasons, the longest active streak in the conference. Vanderbilt finishes SEC play at home for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

LSU Rotation
Game 1: Sr. RHP Ma’Khail Hilliard (5-1, 4.35 ERA)
Game 2: TBA
Game 3: TBA

Vanderbilt Rotation
Game 1: Fr. LHP Devin Futrell (8-1, 2.52 ERA)
Game 2: So. RHP Christian Little (1-1, 2.96 ERA)
Game 3: Jr. RHP Chris McElvain (5-4, 3.93 ERA)

Missouri (26-22, 8-19 SEC) at Georgia (34-18, 14-13 SEC)
Georgia has won the last three series and five of the eight since Missouri joined the SEC in 2013. The Tigers have won three of the four series in Athens. The Bulldogs have swept two of the last three series (2018 & 2019). Missouri’s lone sweep came in Athens in 2015. The first six series between 2013-18 saw the visiting team take the series, until Georgia held serve in 2019.

Georgia has lost its last three series and is 3-7 since starting 11-6. A single victory against Missouri gives the Bulldogs three non-losing SEC seasons in the last four years for the first time since 2008-11. This is the fourth straight season Georgia is closing with a home series.

Missouri, which won three home series, looks to snap its four SEC road series losing streak. The Tigers are trying to avoid Kentucky’s streak of 13 consecutive conference road losses in 2011. This is the first time since 2017 Missouri finishes SEC play on the road. Its eight conference victories matches its total from last year.

Missouri Rotation
Game 1: Jr. RHP Spencer Miles (4-5, 6.61 ERA)
Game 2: TBA
Game 3: So. RHP Carter Rustad (3-2, 4.07 ERA)

Georgia Rotation
Game 1: Jr. RHP Nolan Crisp (1-4, 5.08 ERA)
Game 2: Jr. RHP Jonathan Cannon (9-2, 3.01 ERA)
Game 3: So. LHP Liam Sullivan (3-3, 5.22 ERA)

Tennessee (46-7, 22-5 SEC) at Mississippi State (26-27, 9-18 SEC)
These teams are meeting for the fifth time in the last nine seasons with Mississippi State winning the last two series and 13 of the 19 since 1992. The teams met annually between 2004-21 with the Bulldogs winning six of the nine series. Mississippi State has won the last six series at Dudy Noble Field, including sweeping in 2012 and 2017. Tennessee last won a series in Starkville in 2004. Its last series victory over the Bulldogs was a sweep in 2015 in Knoxville.

After starting 18-1 in SEC play, Tennessee is 4-3 in its last seven league contests. The Volunteers’ 22 SEC wins are the most since the 1995 team won 22 and two shy of the school record 24 set by the 1994 squad that finished 24-5. They have posted backto-back 20-win conference seasons for the first time since doing it in three consecutive years between 1993-95. Tennessee’s 12 home SEC victories are the most in a 30-game conference schedule. The record is 14 held by the 1995 team thanks to a 5-1 mark in the Eastern Division Tournament held in Knoxville, when tournament games counted as part of the team’s total. Tennessee is going for a school record nine series victories after winning eight last year. It also finished 5-0 in SEC home series for the first time.

Mississippi State has dropped its last eight SEC games, its longest conference losing streak since losing 14 consecutive games in 2010. The Bulldogs, who have played three of their four series on the road, own a pair of SEC home series victories over Alabama and Auburn. They close SEC play at home for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

Tennessee Rotation
Game 1: So. RHP Chase Dollander (7-0, 2.54 ERA)
Game 2: Fr. RHP Chase Burns (7-1, 1.12 ERA)
Game 3: Fr. RHP Drew Beam (8-1. 2.54 ERA)

Mississippi State Rotation

Game 2: Jr. RHP Preston Johnson (3-3, 5.55 ERA)
Game 3: So. RHP Cade Smith (4-3, 3.66 ERA)
