Let us take a gander at some of the worst losses based on spreads in recent memory. All of this data was pulled from Goldsheet.com.

Their data only goes back to 1993, so obviously this is as far back as I can go as well. So, to have a nice round number, we'll stop at 1994 and call it 25 years. Deal? Deal.

Largest SEC point-spread upsets in the last 25 years
2012 Arkansas: -30 vs UL-Monroe (L, 34-31)
2016 Mississippi State: -28 vs South Alabama (L, 21-20)
2013 Florida: -28 vs Georgia Southern (L, 26-20)
2010 Ole Miss: -28 vs Jacksonville State (L, 49-48)
2008 Tennessee: -26 vs Wyoming (L, 13-7)
1996 Tennessee: -26 vs Memphis (L, 21-17)
2007 Alabama: -24 vs UL-Monroe (L, 21-14)

Eh, frick it, let's go back to '93 for some extra downvotes...
1993 Alabama: -24 vs LSU (L, 17-13)

*starting qb got hurt in the first half. I think we were up by like 3 TDS at the time. The back up qb came in and looked like a deer in the headlights...for the next 3 years.

What was the spread when Troy pulled off their Trojans and went raw on L8U?

Oh, nm, it probably was a pickem after the drubbing Miss St. gave the week before.

Troy was a 20.5 point underdog.

Alabama was a -6 favorite and lost by 28.

So roughly a -34 point difference.

After we include the 20 point natty bonus, we are at -54.

Easily the worst loss of all time.

Ouch.

I didn't care to look it up. I mean at this point it would be like researching Vandy games.

But damn. The bright side for them is Louisiana st8 hired a new coach after that embarrassment.

Personally my favorite, which had a direct impact on the SEC, was Oklahoma State's blown 28 point spread against Iowa State in 2011.

I guess you could put LSU as a team that ended up on the wrong side of that particular game's point spread.

Looks like it. Not sure why though. I don't see any Tennessee or Arkansas fans bleeding all over the thread.

If William is correct, why isn't Alabama at the top of your list? Am I missing something?

Appears he may be onto something that I overlooked. I’ll need to make some secondary adjustments.

That one was pretty epic. They didn't even complete a pass.

Could always be worse, I guess. You could be Virginia and lose a game 49-7 with your opponent going 0/1 0 yds passing, and your only TD was off of the opening kick.
