The 1-7 eliminates AU-UGA and that not gonna happen,So i guess the 3-6 it is.

quote:

an eight-game format where teams play one permanent opponent and seven rotating opponents (1–7 model); and a nine-game format where teams play three permanent opponents and six rotating (3–6).

quote:

“We have to do what’s in the best interest of the league,” says one SEC administrator. That’s why the big boys might get their way. Most feel like at the end of this debate, the SEC will be playing a nine-game conference schedule in a 3–6 model. But the discussions aren’t over yet, and there hasn’t been an official vote taken. Those reading the room, though, say it’s split, maybe right down the middle: eight vs. eight. A majority is needed from the athletic directors to make a recommendation to the presidents, who normally approve such measures. However, Texas and Oklahoma are not yet voting members and won’t be until they officially join the league. The other 14, meanwhile, will be debating eight versus nine.

RIP to all those POD threads

and a pod system first floated out in the fall has been eliminated

As long as Ole Miss keeps State, LSU and Vandy, I’ll be happy

Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida will be grouped.

I feel like those who wouldn’t be in favor of 9 games are teams that play an out of conference rival each year. Especially South Carolina, where they have a State Law that makes them play Clemson + another in-state team.

They absolutely should be grouped, and easily could be with two eight-team divisions or four four-team pods (with one permanent opponent from each other pod), but it doesn’t appear as if that’s in the cards… which is really baffling.

One permanent opponent is probably the lamest option I’ve heard of (and I hadn’t even seen it discussed before this morning), so that’ll inevitably be what we get.

Just end all permanent rivalry games and rotate everyone.

Football is already dying

yeah let's get rid of UGA/AU and AL/UT yearly so we can get more uga/miss.state and albamaa vandy. Exactly what the league needs.

I'm torn between 1 permanent/7 rotating and the 3/6 model. I don't want to be waiting 4 or 5 years to visit Athens, Oxford, Tuscaloosa, etc.

Texas is our 1, but I don't know which 3 permanents makes the most sense for OU.

As newcomers y'all, and Texas, get whatever the conference gives you and you'll like it!!

Seems to be that both models would have the “rotating teams” come on and off the schedule every other year.

No more “LSU has only played UGA once in the regular season since 2013.” Which is true.

I think a 9 game schedule makes the most sense though. We absolutely keep Clemson. I'd like to keep UGA and Kentucky for sure. Open to whoever for the third permanent SEC opponent.

Which makes the most geographic sense, but instead of reviving old rivalries, I want new rivalries.

Maintaining geographic sense, Texas/Arkansas/LSU would be my choice.

4 pods:
1 Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Mizzou
2 LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State
3 Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
4 Florida, Georgia, USC, Kentucky

So play 3 teams in the pod and 2 from the other three pods for 9 games; rotate the two from the other pods each year, so each team has played every conference opponent in two years.

16 teams is a scheduling nightmare, but the 3-6 is probably the best option available, even though I know LSU is likely to get screwed.

I’m fine with either bc every SEC team will be played home and away in a 4 year stretch. A lot better than the present format.

If I had to pick one, I prefer the 1-7 just bc I like scheduling a fun out of conference game.

If the league goes to a 3-6 format, my guess is they will remove the P5 OOC game requirement.

They'll take this to a vote at the SEC meetings, correct? Also, does OU/Texas get a say in the format or not?
