How many times the last 25 years has the SEC been shut out of at least one of the Big 3 Championships? This year it could have just as easily been a clean sweep. Fine line.

It’s been many moons. Basketball is usually the one we don’t make being that only three SEC schools have ever made it to the NCAAT championship game.

That’s about to change.

I view the SEC transforming itself into a competitive basketball conference Iin such a short time as nothing more than miraculous.

The ACC has been trying to do the same in football for decades and has consistently failed.

When you consider the SEC’s dominance in football, baseball, women’s basketball and softball and gymnastics and tennis and golf, etc .... men’s basketball will be the holy grail when it finally happens, and it is going to happen.

Winning championships is tough because it’s all about catching fire at the right time. Always has been. But being tough year in and year out within the conference and against OoC foes is where the true test is to be found and we’re getting close as a conference to being there.

I would argue that having different schools highly competitive each year is a great indicator of a dominant league in all sports.

It's more than you thought...

Answer:
football = 15 times
basketball = 21 times
baseball = 14 times

Consistently failed?

ACC has won 3 out of the last 6 Football Championships with 2 different teams. Get back to me when the SEC achieves this in basketball.

During that same six year span your conference has a .326 winning percentage in bowl games ... many of those losses coming to lesser conference opponents.

Get back to me when your conference breaks the .500 mark.

In the meantime the SEC has gone .659 in bowl games with big time winning records against P5 opponents.

But dickride that Jameous Winston FSU team and the two Clemson teams all you want.

Right now there is no doubt that the ACC is the 300 pound gorilla in men’s basketball. Has been for as long as I can remember dating back to the early 60s with the B1G not far behind. The PAC was always about UCLA. They have not been a major player since the early 70s. The Big East was a monster in it’s heyday. The old Metro had some good years too.

Only Kentucky (18), Georgia (1), Florida (5), Arkansas (7), Auburn (1), LSU (4), Mississippi St.(1), and South Carolina (1) have ever reached the Final Four in their histories.

Since 1993...

Kentucky (9 times)
Arkansas (3 times)
Florida (5 times)
Miss.St., LSU, SCar, and Auburn (all 1 time)

SEC Shut Out

I'd be interested to know in what year(s) in that time frame has the SEC NOT had one of the following: A Final Four appearance, A CWS appearance, a BCSNCG or CFBP appearance?
Just off the top of my head:

*SEC Basketball Final Four teams in last 25 years:
Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida, Auburn, South Carolina, LSU. (At least 6) Three made the NC game and also won a NC.
And am I crazy or didn't Tenn, Georgia, Miss. State and Vandy make a Final Four?

*SEC Baseball CWS teams: (At least 11)
Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss.State, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, LSU. Did Tennessee? Seven made the NC game/series. 5 won the NC, and a 6th came within a pop fly of another.

*SEC BCSNCG and/or CFBP teams: (At least 6)
Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, LSU.
All but Georgia won the NC. (UGA won one in 1980).

I didn't even mention the fact that the ACC has also won 3 NCAA basketball championships in the same time period with 3 different teams. That wouldn't even be fair.

SEC fans "dickride" Alabama football each and every day ("SEC,SEC, SEC") when bragging about SEC football so I don't want to hear that argument.

Finally, nobody cares about a conference records in shitty bowls. As every SEC team that loses a bowl (cough, cough UGA)teams don't generally care about non NY6 Bowl games.

Having said all that, see you in Charlotte in a few weeks. Hope it's a good game.

But in that time frame, has the ACC had:

At least Six different Final Four teams?
At least Six different BCSNCG or CFBP teams?
At least Eleven different CWS teams?

The SEC has....

Meanwhile,the SEC has 10 of those.

I’m talking about being shut out of all three in one year. This year falls on Vandy.

Arkansas x 1 Kentucky x 2 94-98.

Florida x 2 Kentucky x1 06-12

Is that the response you were looking for?

Here's one for you ACC fan ...

Show us a year when the ACC won national championships in all three major men's sports.

I'll wait.

When you grow tired of looking ... maybe you'll want to try years when either conference won just two of the three major men's sports?

You own college basketball for the time being. Be happy with that although even your dominance in basketball does not compare to the SEC's dominance in football and baseball. And you don't even want to get into track and field or women's basketball or any of the other sports that our conferences' student athletes choose to endeavor to dominate.
