SEC schedule
quote:

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher was asked about it at his regular press conference on Monday.

“It’s just the way the SEC schedule is, I know they’re looking at some formats going forward,” he said. “Keep the 3 main and rotate 5 and all those things. I think it is good for your players eventually to be able to play everybody in a conference. I really do believe that. I think that’s good. To have that you’ve played that team or been in that stadium and those things. When you have conferences as big as you have now, that’s kind of the way it goes.”

Georgia coach Kirby Smart was asked about the scheduling format as well.

“That’s kind of wild to think about,” Smart said. “But I mean I know their fanbase is passionate. I mean from when we played there at Alabama, they bring — you will see their fanbase in Athens, because they all want to make this trip, just like it’ll be reciprocated when we go there whenever that is. So very passionate fan bases. It’s sad that doesn’t happen often enough, but our conference is big and we got a lot of good football teams, so it takes time to circle it and go all the way around it.”

Keeping the 3 main and rotate 5 would be really nice so you will go through all the conference members in two years

I hate it, but I guess this is how it has to be going ahead. You just can't have seven permanent opponents each year in a fourteen-team conference. It's ludicrous that players can be in a conference and not play against multiple teams in the conference in their entire four-year career.

Call me crazy but I would really like our three games each year to be Alabama, Auburn, and Florida. I know that's stupid from the standpoint of trying to play for titles and trying to keep conference balance, but those are the three games I most enjoy each year and the ones I'd like to keep. Texas A&M and/or Ole Miss would be nice compromises I guess.

I want to say no but honestly it would be the luck of the draw each year.
Sounds fun

Depends on what 3 you have. UGA does NOT want SC!

On top of that, you need more tie-breakers for non-common opponents.

Lastly, NCAA REQUIRES divisions.

Yes they do. They just "tweaked" on their requirements to have a CG.

The SEC and ACC have the same scheduling issues. Both have 14 teams and both play 8 conference games.

I've been a proponent of eliminating divisions which would completely open up scheduling and allow tradition games to be preserved while allowing every team to play each other more frequently.

The top 2 teams play for the Conference title even if they played in the regular season...

That may work for the ACC. But UGA's scheduling can't switch that easy (9 games).
