i think it's 7 years, isn't it? UGA played @LSU in '18, but LSU doesn't travel to UGA until 2025 (7 years).
Isn’t it funny how LSU and Georgia fans are so dam interested in playing each other that they somehow always type about that desire when wanting to somehow do away with TSIO, Alabama vs Tennessee? Or just bitch about scheduling?
Isn’t it funny how back in the day before the Conference was involved in scheduling, it being strictly up to the individual schools, LSU and Georgia went 25 straight years without playing each other? And this was when there were only 10 teams in the league?
Methinks some stinks in Baton Rouge-and Athens.

For example, 9 conference games would seriously cripple the possibility of playing semi-regular games against Clemson, which is a far more traditional and compelling opponent for UGA.
UGA doesn't benefit from playing Clemson but Clemson benefits from playing UGA both in terms of strength of schedule and in terms of exposure in recruiting (you're inviting them into your backyard). Playing TAMU more often would be a wash as both would benefit from exposure in one another's recruiting grounds.
I'm not for or against a 9 game schedule (I don't see it as particularly pressing) but UGA is not better off playing Clemson over an SEC opponent.

9 games is the way to go... at least to be a cohesive conference. It takes away one of the rent-a-wins and speaking as an Ole Miss fan, those are ones we need more than most other schools.
And since ticket sales are down across the nation, wouldn't it make sense to add better competition to the schedule than playing a South Wyoming State on the home schedule?
Simply put, teams that don't want 9 conference games want to because they are too damn scared of losing one more game.
We need to go to 9 games and back to the original divisional rotation that we had pre-A&M/Mizzou.

Muh TSIO, DSOR
We don't give a shite about Arkansas or the boot. Loser should have to keep it.

LSU... probably the worst variation with this specific example. Lose Alabama and Auburn as quality every year matchups, and not sure how important the "rivalry" with Arkansas is (some sort of boot on the line, no?)

Damn .... that'll make three in a row at LSU.
fricking BHam. frick BHam.
We had to play in Baton Rouge two consecutive years when SC joined. Everything the conference does is to benefit those purple frickers.

I have never heard a good argument against a 9 conference game schedule.
No team that has played 9 regular season conference games has ever won a national championship. Ever. In the entire history of football.

Like the SEC office being headquarted in Birmingham? Like Missouri being put in the East, even though Missouri is west of every state in the SEC except Texas, so that Alabama and Auburn can stay in the West? Like the head of SEC football officiating being a Tuscaloosa resident who belongs to the Tuscaloosa Rotary Club?
You're an idiot. frick off.

Clemson is already in our backyard. It’s not like Atlanta kids are unaware of the team that just won a national championship and is right up the road.
ETA: both programs also recruit nationally at this point, and a UGA-Clemson pseudo rivalry draws more eyeballs than a game against A&M.
ETA2: it’s also not just about Clemson. It’s about any OOC game other than Georgia Tech.

Home/away is imbalanced. 5/4 or 4/5.
I'd vote for 10 conference games over 9. The pod system with 3 permanents and 5/5 is really the way to go.

Number the teams 1-12
1 plays 2-9
2 plays 3-10
3 plays 4-11
and so on
Next season do the same but in the opposite direction. That way you can play all of your natural rivals but the out of division teams would change every year

You'd have to be pretty stupid to think 9 games is a good idea. The PAC and Big 12 did it because they had ten teams. This is the ONLY time it makes sense, and even then it's worse than playing 8. The B1G did it because their TV contract was up for negotiation and the media side wanted more inventory. All it's done is create unbalanced home schedules and weakened overall SOS.

Well. I'll say it. The SEC should go to a nine game schedule and will. Since attendance is down. And only play P%'s or major indies (ND) with the other games.
