Even when you add his receiving yards from 2018 to the 2019 numbers, UT would have an additional 6% receiving yards...taking them up to 37%. Still in 12th place, but a bit closer to 11th.

Perfect example of what we've been talking about. If we did this for every team and every stat, it may look a lot different. But, I never would have known this without reading the thread. So, thanks this is good info.

Georgie, I'm watching an LSU game from 2019 and it really just hit me that we have as much or more returning experience just at the skill positions in 2020 than we did in 2019. Coming into 2019 Chase, Marshall and Edwards-Helaire hadn't played much at all and Moss was a transfer and sat out 2018. Obviously the big thing is Brennan, but I just thought this was information you wouldn't be able to live without.

Let's just take this act around the board into every thread. We'd fit right in!

where would you put them, 1-14, in the SEC in terms of returning experience - however you want to define it
i couldn't care less about that. i've stated that repeatedly.

While it isn't a huge difference. UT will return Jordan Murphy, who sat out 2019 (what would have been his Junior season) to redshirt. Even when you add his receiving yards from 2018 to the 2019 numbers, UT would have an additional 6% receiving yards...taking them up to 37%. Still in 12th place, but a bit closer to 11th.

This is where stats can tell you lies

Lsu has one of the top, if not the very top, receiving units in the nation and I dont think anyone would disagree

Jamar Chase
Terrace Marshal
Racey McMath
Arik Gilbert

We return 46 receiving TDs and 2,732 receiving yards

Yet, OPs stats would tell you by that metric our receiving unit is 12th in the SEC?

No, LSU's returning production at WR is 7th.

quote:

Racey McMath

17 catches, 285 yards, 3 TDs

quote:

Arik Gilbert

0 catches, 0 yards, 0 TDs

7th in the SEC is returning receiving production, yes. Nobody said that means LSU has the 7th best WR corp in the SEC.

LSU is 12th in Passing Production because they lost their QB, #2, #4, #5 receiving targets and a large portion of their OL starts last year. But, as has been made clear 750 times in this thread, the stat is not trying to say that LSU has the "12th best" pass offense in the SEC.

That’s pretty close to what Jayleen Wandel had against FBS opponents. Though his game against Western Carolina was sUpEr iMpResSiVe.
