SEC Reg. Season and Tourn. Titles by School.

I'm home sick today and I'm bored. The MSU rivalry thread piqued my curiosity about how many SEC Titles each school as won (both reg season and tournaments) across all sports. I only did current members minus A&M and Mizzou (too little overall number due to small sample size). Equestrian was excluded because of small sample size, too. Remember, Ark and USC were 1992 expansion teams. The rest of the numbers go back to 1932.
Overall Titles:
UF: 317
UT: 191
UGA: 179
LSU: 160
UA: 109
Ark: 105
UK: 103
AU: 85
State: 37
Vandy: 33
OM: 28
USC: 21
Number of sports without an SEC title:
UF: 1
UGA: 2
AU: 3
LSU: 3
UT: 3
UA: 4
UK: 6
OM:7
Ark: 8
Vandy: 8
MSU: 10
USC: 10
Big 3 SEC Titles:
UK: 78
UA: 61
LSU: 54
UF: 41
UT: 32
MSU: 25
UGA: 22
AU: 21
OM: 17
Vand: 12
Ark: 5
USC: 5
Some Takeaways:
UF is pretty much the gold standard when it comes to overall athletic department success across all sports. The most overall titles and the fewest sports without one. They tend to fall down a bit when it comes to the Big Three sports success and run the score up with Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Golf, and Volleyball with 30+ titles in all of those. Women's basketball is the only weakness. Very impressive.
UK is propped up heavily by Basketball dominance. The amount of reg season and tourney titles UK Basketball has is staggering. When it comes to the rest of the sports, UK falls to the bottom 3 in just about every sport. After basketball with 78 titles, UK's next best sport is Volleyball with 11 titles.
Bama is pretty balanced when it comes to the Big Three sports: 27 titles in FB, 20 in Baseball, and 14 in Basketball. The next closest sports are Gym and Golf with 9 and 8. I'd say overall, Bama is probably the most balanced across the most sports. Outside of football, it doesn't really run the score up in any sport, but it's more evenly balanced in the rest -- no real crazy outliers. Swimming and Diving, and Tennis are weaknesses for Bama.
LSU performs well in the Big Three, too with 54 titles: 30 in baseball, 13 in basketball, and 11 in FB. Looking at the other sports Outdoor/Indoor T&F, Softball, Volleyball help out LSU's overall numbers. Swimming and Diving and Tennis are the major weaknesses here.
Arkansas is interesting: only being in the conference since 1992, they have an impressive 105 overall titles. While that number is very impressive in such a short time, they've done it almost entirely in Track and Field and Cross Country. With only 5 Big Three titles, Arkansas has the biggest disparity between overall titles and Big Three Titles. 8 sports without an SEC title is also one of the highest in that category. Like UK, Arkansas runs its number up with few sports, but unlike UK, Arkansas isn't doing it with a Big Three sport.
UGA has fairly wide athletic success across all sports with 179 titles. It does fall down the ladder when you look at Big Three titles with only 22 in that category. UGA runs the title score up with Golf and Tennis. The rest of the sports are pretty well rounded. The weakest sports for UGA are Track and Field and Soccer.
AU surprised me a bit. I expected its numbers would have been more competitive across the board. While balanced across sports and a low number of sports without an SEC title is low, the overall numbers just aren't that high. AU is pretty balanced in the Big Three with 8, 5 and 8 titles in FB, Basketball, and Baseball respectively. The strongest numbers for AU come from Swimming and Diving and Gold with 18 and 13 titles respectively. No real pitfall sports, just kinda middle of the pack in most.
UT is also pretty competitive across the board boosted by strong title counts in Women's basketball, Track and Field and Cross country. It also has a strong showing in the Big Three sports with 13 each in FB and Basketball, but hampered with a paltry 6 in baseball.
Collectively, Ole Miss, State, and Vandy just aren't very competitive. With low overall title counts, and high numbers of sports without any SEC titles, it's hard to find highlights. MSU is unique and from Vandy and OM in that it does perform well in the Big Three sports category, propped up with Baseball and Basketball (15 and 9 titles respectively). I'd put MSU above the others for that reason, but beyond that, the three are very comparable.

Honestly surprised to see OM that low in the big 3. But they haven’t even made an sec title in football so what do I know

That kind of surprises me. I know LSU is usually a pretty good sports school all around. I really thought they might be 2nd behind Florida.

Being bad at those three sports is hardly a "weakness."

Regarding UGA track history. That is why I'm curious Matthew Boling is going there.

Probably women's basketball. It's amazing how bad we've always been.

A&M has 20. Not that much different than USC...

The more I look at that Big 3 list the more it becomes clear that Georgia should just be ashamed
All those resources for those results? Come on

Also, how many of these does MSU even compete in?

Agreed. Very few fricks have ever been given about baseball in Athens. Not one single frick has ever been given about basketball.
