Our best QBs have been game managers, not world-beaters. Playing QB in the SEC usually means you're also playing alongside the best defenses in the country, so there's no need to have a 300+ yard passer. The SEC is the only conference where there is just as much talent on D as there is on O.
Agree. UGA, in the last ten years has had the #1 pick in the NFL at QB who is currently leading the revitalization of a franchise. In Detroit. He's got ideal size, great athleticism, and a rocket for an arm. There was another guy though, who set the all-time SEC and NCAA record for wins (surpassed by McCoy) while he was at UGA.
That guy sells insurance and invests in real estate because he wasn't an NFL guy, but he's got an SECC and the better college career under his belt.

he even used Geno Smith's success against LSU to prove his point.
My memory is sketchy, who won that game again??
The idiot who made this statement probably didn't even watch the game, he just looked at stats. Once WV got within 6, LSU defense tighted up and didnt' even allow them past the 43 yard line for the rest of the game.
SEC QBs don't put up insane passing numbers because in the SEC you need a good running game and a great defense to get by. You can't win this league by putting all your best players on offense and hope to outscore everyone.

THIS. People just don't get that LSU plays two different defenses depending on the score.

Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy had their chances to beat "overrated" SEC defenses in NC games, and they failed.
Bradford was chomped, and McCoy was processed

I'm in Texas and all I hear is how the Big whatever has all of these great QB's. You know LSU was 11th or 12th in passing in the SEC last year but in the cotton bowl JJ looked like one of the Manning boys. Same thing happened when AM played the pigs. I think they don't run the ball and outside of OU they don't play defense either.

Tyler Wilson is as good as any of them except maybe Luck, and Wilson is damn sure tougher. Bray has shown he is a stat machine against crap teams. every conference has a few qbs that arent very good, the sec just has more good defenses than the other conferences, thus less oppurtunities to put up huge numbers. plus, you gotta run the ball to win in this conference, ask any sec coach.

The media is completely infatuated by quarterbacks and passing stats. Look at the two conferences that dominate both of these, the Big 12 and Pac 12. The Big 12 and Pac 12 have combined to go 0-4 in the national championship game against the SEC. In every one of those games, the flashy offense/QB sat on the side of the Big 12/Pac 12, and in every one of those games, the SEC stuffed it. Jason White in 2003, Sam Bradford in 2008, Colt McCoy in 2009 and Darron Thomas and the "blur" offense last year. They scored 14, 14, 21 and 19 points, respectively.
Even lesser SEC schools have stuffed high flying Big 12 attacks in the Cotton Bowl, such as Tennessee humiliating A&M there a few years ago and Ole Miss dominating Texas Tech. We won't bring up what happened to Arky there when they played Mizzou.
This year, it's all about Landry Jones, RGIII, Russell Wilson, Brandon Weeden, Kellen Moore and Andrew Luck. Chances are pretty likely that we will see one of these guys play against LSU or Alabama. So, we will have a month and a half of buildup once again asking whether LSU or Alabama will be able to stop the high flying attack of so and so before they get stuffed.

This.
Our QB are probably not as bad as we think they are, and theirs are not as good.
