SEC Officiating - Bias

A different view point. Do I think Bama is getting biased officiating right now? Yes I do, but I don't think its necessarily a Bama bias. The SEC is notorious for protecting their top teams to ensure one of us gets into the CFP and the BCS before that. During 2000-2006, it was either Auburn or LSU getting the bias calls. Remember the Webster int against Bama or Grand Theft Auburn in 2006? UF also has been the darling team a couple years getting the calls when they were making a run. Bama has just been the top team for many years in a row so the SEC Bias has the perception of a Bama bias.
There is just too much financial impact for the SEC to miss out. We know if we trot out a couple of the top SEC teams in any given year, they will beat almost anyone out there as the level of talent / competition in the SEC is just higher, so they try to keep them clean to make sure one of them gets in there.
ETA: This year especially its in the SEC's best interest for BAMA win out, its the only chance the SEC has of getting a second team in and that means more money for the conference.

When the hell are we going to get David Smith in a game?

Your team held on every play against Bama and not a flag. The OL looked like they were performing CPR on a choke victim and still nothing. Move on it’s only a conspiracy to the weak minded.

So we can expect no bias in the SECC or bias toward UGA?

Disagree completely
It’s all about gambling. Nothing else.
It happens in ALL SEC games.

It's more subtle than that. Its not about calling everything in sight or not calling. Its about affecting the momentum of the game. Its typically what's not called as those are easier to explain away, than what is called. Not calling holding calls against LSU when LSU's offense can't even get a first down is not affecting the momentum of a game. Calling State's TD back or not calling the fumble on the first series are both momentum affecting.

Here is the truth. Bad calls happen to every team, even Bama. In fact the stats say the refs are harder on Bama and easier on their opponents, every year. You guys pick and choose and harp on every break that falls Bama's way and ignore the ones that don't go their way. Both LSU and State got away with many defensive holds and pi's during the course of the game, for example. You guys just pick and choose the evidence instead of looking at the evidence as a whole and jump to the conclusion that makes you feel better about losing. It is not only ignorant, it is pathetic. In short, the refs are not the biased ones, we the fans are.

If UGA was odds on fav to make the CFP, they would be getting the bias. I've noticed it for years, and its not just Bama, its been all the top teams.

Calling State's TD back
And if the coach was closer than 25 yards from the ref, they would have heard him calling for timeout.

So what you are saying is that only call a penalty if it’s against someone else, wow. You have fallen.

You are correct, bad calls happen. So do injuries. Let there be no excuses either way.

You are right, there are bad calls in games and that go both ways, but you have to look at which ones change the momentum of a game. Yes Bama gets a lot of ticky tack calls sometimes but they rarely affect momentum or force Bama into a punt or take points off the board. It has to appear to be even right?

If your theory is correct and UGA has one loss and Bama zero in the SECC, then the refs should be biased to UGA. A UGA win means both likely make the CFP.

I have noticed over the years that fans tell themselves this to make themselves feel better about losing. It is as old as sports itself.

And then throw his hands up as if he's guilty as frick.
And as far as Gary Danielson yapping and whining...remember he's the one who suggested that Tennessee should have gotten a re-kick when Cody took his helmet off after blocking the FG in 2009. So don't be swayed by Gary Danielson going into hysterics.

reading comprehension? I'm saying Bama is benefitting only because Bama is the best. If UGA or LSU were the best right now, they would be benefitting.

Dude I'm an LSU fan, and noticed when it was LSU getting the calls. Its not about feeling better, it's about intellectual honesty.
Sadly most will never admit to themselves what they saw as in a way it would ruin the sport we are so passionate about. We all want to believe its fair and bad calls go both ways and it evens out.
