Shoe is crazy.

I gotta be honest. If you had told me after Ole Miss that we'd finish the season with the best defense in the SEC in 3 out of 4 primary statistical categories, I'd have called you Sonya and told you to stop posting.

But, but, but the Rant says Alabama's defense is turrible.

How can this be, Pawwl?

Wait.

Alabama leads in almost all of these categories, too?

Dare I say, this might just be the best team of all time?

Bama's early mess on the D-side was no mirage and the Ole Miss fiasco was no figment of anyone's imagination. As Roman Harper and my video review on my DVR have clearly pointed out, we finally backed off a lot of the complex looks. We are running a lot of zone looks, especially underneath. It has made a world of difference in getting our guys a step ahead instead of behind.

Golding deserves as much of the credit as he has coming. Who knows what that is? But something changed, dramatically, in defensive philosophy. Thank goodness.

If these stats hold up after Saturday and Alabama wins, Alabama would be #1 or #2 in every stat category, 11-0 vs the SEC and have played all of the Top 11 teams in the conference (excluding themselves) and won each game by double digits (if that happens Saturday).

Would certainly be something.

Agreed - it would certainly be the most "complete" SEC Championship I can remember.

We'd be kicking arse if opposing teams would just run the ball 50 times a game like the old days.

Man, if Corral was just average against Arkansas he'd be neck and neck with Jones. It's a shame he had an uncharacteristic meltdown.

He was pretty bad against Auburn too.

Also, that's the team numbers. Mac is 203.9 and Corral is 187.3.

They are certainly in the conversation for best regular season SEC team of all time. If you count the SIAA (the predecessor to the SEC) then it is still the absolutely terrifying 1899 Sewanee team that went 11-0 in conference, 12-0 overall and outscored their opponents 322-10. They also won 5 games in 6 days against big name schools and shut them all out.
