These guys don't even know what they're talking about. 1 minute we have a war eagle because we live in America, but then Auburn has a tiger.
Lastly, you can get trampled by "Packy-derms", but then a crimson tide can capsize a fleet of commodores, so wear life jackets.

WTF?

Why do we even try this? Tigers are apex predators for a reason. Mizzou, Auburn, and LSU would be the last ones standing, unless auburn decided to submit an eagle to the battle instead of a tiger.

Vandy as a fleet doesn’t count. Their mascot is one guy.

Didn't read the article. But the Roman's reportedly used Hogs to counter war elephants.

Of course, the did this by dousing them in oil, setting them on fire and charging them at the enemy thus panicking the elephants.

Uh, does Vandy have a fleet of ships with cannons? I'm going with them.

Also, this:

Not sure a fleet does a lot of good in Nashville.

Tennessee probably has the more deadly mascot IRL

Ole Miss and Tennessee have rifles. They would be the last ones standing.

The thought of a bear with a rifle is pretty damn scary.

Depends on what type of firearms and just how many tigers we're talking about.

The problem with this every time it comes up is balance. Rebels and Volunteers would presumably use period weapons. That means Pennsylvania Long rifles for the volunteers (these are flint lock muzzel-loaders). We'll give the Rebels the Mississippi Rifle (M1841). This is a percussion lock, which is better than flint lock, but still muzzle loaded)

So how do you balance that? Say 50 rebels, 60 volunteers and 100 tigers for each tiger school? Your troops better damn well hit every first shot and pray it's a killing blow. Because they aren't likely getting another one. Can a bayonet line face down equal numbers of tigers?

Then can those weapons even bring down an elephant? Say twenty elephants. You'd hit each one two and a half times. Does that kill them?

It doesn’t. Just near water. Like every major and minor city in the US. They can just sail up rivers.

eta: And presumably his fleet has Marines on board as well.

And they got beat, really bad. Romans got lucky Scipio made it to Carthage in time to turn Hannibal around. He was running the Roman armies, hogs or no hogs, into the ground. Just 50 elephants too.

Basically the problem here is that the battlefield is ill defined. My assumption is a bracket style one on one in a football stadium, with each match taking place at one of the teams' home stadium. Or a free for all in some generic stadium, because you know "battle royal".

Then my assumption is that the mascot is the mascot. They aren't the Vandy marines. They're the Vandy Commodores. So I'd envision an appropriate number of actual commodore rank officers there in the arena with the other combatants. Now commodore is a modern rank, so I'd say modern weapons are allowed, but I'd also say gear should be restricted to something the combatant would normally carry. For naval brass, that means side arms. I think the normal sidearm for naval officers is the Sig Sauer P226. Any squids here can correct me if that's wrong.

That's a good gun but can it stop a mass of tigers or elephants?

A battle royale is everyone battling everybody at the same time. Think hunger games. I still got the trio of tigers over the two guys with muskets.
