Changing video review?
quote:
On Tuesday, No. 5 Kentucky lost at home to No. 19 LSU when Kavell Bigby-Williams tip-in at the buzzer gave the visiting Tigers a shocking win. Upon further review of that final shot – well actually there was no review, and UK and the Southeastern Conference have a bit of a problem with that, according to a new report.
quote:
CBS Sports rules analyst and former NCAA referee Gene Steratore tweeted after the game that the Bigby-Williams shot should have been waved off. Officials reviewed the play afterward, but only to make sure Bigby-Williams got his tip off in time (he did), because offensive goaltending calls are non-reviewable.
quote:
tweeted. “The contact by the UK player isn’t basket interference as the ball is not on the rim and the contact didn’t alter the outcome of the shot. However, the contact by LSU is goaltending because the ball is within the cylinder.”

LSU made college football change to a playoff system.
so I guess LSU football is equal to Kentucky Basketball.

I don't like arguing on LSU's side here but this is BS
If the shot is in the air and you are pulling on the rim or causing the rim to move in any fashion, that should be goal-tending.

Whether you agree or don’t agree with who would benefit from the replay, it’s absurd that a critical play that could decide a game isn’t reviewable. Making more than just a handful of calls reviewable in late game situations is beneficial.

I would imagine you have plenty of experience seeing the letters UK right next to an L.

This guy doesnt know his own rules. The rule states OR if the shot is on the backboard which it was. 2 UK players were hitting the net, rim and backboard with the ball coming onto the backboard. That's basket interference. It doesnt have to be in the cylinder.

I mean, the entire conference does. We all have been forced to watch Kentucky sports in our periphery vision for years. shite's embarrassing.

I know how to read a rule:
Section 17. Basket Interference and Goaltending
5. Causes the basket or backboard to vibrate when the ball is on or within the basket or the backboard and/or is on or in the cylinder.
Apparently he doesnt understand if the ball is on/near the backboard you cant be hitting the rim/net/backboard to cause vibration which can alter the shot off the backboard. Should be pretty obvious. UK clearly violated that.
If you want to rewind further how about the ridiculous foul on the floor with 6 seconds left they called to get you to tie the game at the line which was hand checking at best which you guys did all game long on Tremont Waters and got away with.
Or the possession before that you got an offensive rebound on a clear over the back call they missed and wound up at the line after that for 2 FTs.
UK fans wanting to blame the refs for that is laughable. They missed multiple calls leading up to that final tip in.

Must suck when USC gets skull dragged in football and basketball by Kentucky all these years. I can see why you are so fricking salty.

Clearly, Montgomery’s contact with the net came before the ball hit the rim, meaning the refs were right not to call interference on Kentucky. However, Steratore made it clear that Bigby-Williams touching the ball after Mays’s shot already was within the cylinder was a goaltend.

I'm not salty, I'm seasoned.

The guy in the foreground also ends up nailing the backboard just after that pic, again, there was clear contact with every part of the basket by 2 different UK players while the ball was on or near the backboard which could cause vibration. Which by rule, if the ball is on or near the backboard is basket interference.
