SEC Leading Rusher Kevin Harris Ridiculously Underrated

SC Sophomore RB Kevin Harris has over 800 yards rushing, a full 100+ yards more than the next rb in conference. I just wanted to point out his offer list: Air Force, Army, Cornell, Furman, Middle Tennessee State, Navy, Citadel, Tulane, Wofford, and of course South Carolina. Everyone was worried when Marshawn Lloyd went down in the spring....except Harris apparently! He's been a true bright spot during a pretty rough season. At 5'10" tall and 225 pounds he's a load. Catches the ball really well too. And he has that gear. Anyhow who on your team has stepped up in a big way kind of unexpectedly this season?

For Alabama probably Will Reichard the place kicker. Guy has missed (get ready for it), zero field goals this year. 8/8 on FGs and 37/37 on PATs.

Kadarius Toney.
I know non-Florida fans had seen his 1 run/catch a game where he looked like a video game and would break 3 ankles for a ridiculous SC Top 10 highlight.
I'm not sure non-Florida fans saw the 20 plays a game where he danced in the backfield for a 7 yard loss or ran lazy, loping routes at half speed if the ball wasn't in his hand.
He laughably legitimately considered declaring for the Draft last year. There was serious talk that he might opt out this season. I was done with him and expected him to barely see the field, thought he refused to commit to making himself a better player.
I was very wrong. He has made a complete metamorphosis into a well-rounded WR rather than an athlete that only runs gadget plays or sweeps. He runs crisp routes downfield. Trask actively looks for him at critical times - he is statistically our best 3rd down WR and was at one point the best in the SEC in % of 3rd downs converted as a targeted receiver.

Harris is the best RB we’ve had since Lattimore and it isn’t even close.
He breaks tackles and falls forward almost every time.
He has that gear Lattimore didn’t have but he can’t cut as quickly IMO.

I'd say the title of #2 would go to Mike Davis, but Harris would be next on my list. It's kind of like splitting hairs tho.

Harris is a stud but Mike Davis is seriously underrated by a lot of Gamecock fans. He's #2 for me right now with Harris right behind.

The entire OL for the Aggies. Hard to pick just one.

COVID-19
But seriously, Jontre Kirklin has been a pleasant surprise at WR. Great to see from a Sr who’s worked hard and waited his turn

I coached Fenwick -
He could be putting up similar numbers if given the opportunity. He is a fantastic athlete with good size and speed.

Ditto to Harris. What a great surprise he has been, and I don’t think it is a fluke either. Begs the question, how good is Marshawn Lloyd if he was the clear cut favorite over Harris in camp? Those two could be fun next year.

13 rushes for 39 yards against A&M... not bad

Even though he wasn't effective vs A&M, you could see how much of a load he was to take down. He would turn a no gain into 1-2 yards.
Agree with the A&M OL stepping it. It just seems like everything clicked after underperforming for the last couple years.
I will also throw in Chase Lane. He was not highly sought after. We had 3 more highly ranked WRs in his class and some even higher the next class, but he's carved out a nice consistant role. 2-6 catches 40-70 yards a games.

I don't mind it but why would people downvote a post like this? Haters! And yeah A&M curbstomped SC. Hard to run for many yards when your team is down by 20+.

He's put up almost identical YPC stats as Harris in every game he's played in. I have no doubt that he could do some amazing things if he gets increased carries.

Harris had 6 carries for 33 yds and a TD on SC's first drive to open up the game vs UF and also caught a pass for 9 yards. Then Bobo decided he wanted to throw the ball, so the next 2 drives were punts. Crazy

Harris is great - big back with good vision. And our pass defense sucks at A&M, but the run defense has been stout. Wouldn't hold it against him that he had a bad game

If he keeps this up let’s enjoy him this year and next. He would and should declare and leave early. With Lloyd and Fenwick we would be ok.
Now all we need is wide receivers, a secondary, and a competent coach.
Not asking for much.
