Belk bowl makes sense because of the SEC Network offices.

With the SEC Network being based in Charlotte this may be the nearest thing to a done deal, and it probably will be an SEC-ACC matchup. (Belk is also my favorite place to shop so that's another reason I want them in the mix)

Here's the one potential problem.

There are three match-ups, as is the problem with the Peach Bowl, that are automatically DQ'd from consideration ... the three established SEC-ACC rivalry games and then you add the fact that Vandy has been taking-on Wake Forest every year, so that makes four.

So you've got four match-ups that are automatically exempt from those two bowl's discussion.

That's really cutting down on the options when you consider all the other SEC automatic bowl tie-ins.

Whats this about losing the Cotton and Peach bowls? I thought that they would host their traditional bowl game and host a semifinal game on top of that when it was their year?

Its not like their going to have a semifinal game every year

It was my understanding that the years they hosted the semi-final that would be their bowl for that year. For the other years I'm not sure if they will keep their traditional matchups or set up games like the current BCS (which favors traditional match-ups but doesn't always get them).

Plus UK-Louisville when the Cards join the ACC. That's five right off the bat that won't be used, plus the pre-season Peach Bowl that is in Atlanta every year (like UTK-NCSU/Auburn-Clemson last year), and the occasional game like VPI-Bama and UGA-Clemson that are going to be played this year.

On the flipside, maybe with the ACC adding new members such as 'Ville (yeah, I know they play UK, but they're new to the rest of the SEC), Syracuse, Pitt and Notre Dumb, we can add a little bit more variety with another/replaced tie-in.

I'd go to Charlotte to see Carolina play ND or Louisville, for sure.

Now that ESPN owns the SEC I am sure you will see much more "gay friendly" type bowl names. I can see a "Gay Pride Bowl" near Disneyland. Possibly a "Sodomite Bowl" too. Maybe Belk will resurrect the "Gayfers" name for a bowl...
