How much will it cost us on cable?
The goal is to get it onto the basic cable packages in the states that have a SEC team in them. Some cable providers may try and fight it though, so it may end up starting out on the sports packages for cable.

Premium? Have no idea. Incorporated in basic ESPN package (if this happens) I'd imagine a buck or two monthly increase.
Forbes article
Before A&M/Mizzou expansion, TV average 205M, so 17M for each of 12 schools. Increase in 2014...6-10M per school?

I think those providers will lose. They'll just pass on the increase to customers anyway.

That all depends on what model the SECN is modeled after. If it is modeled after the BTN, where the B1G owns 51% and Fox owns 49%, then you will be right. But if it is modeled after the LHN where ESPN owns 100% of the network, then it will be a fixed amount over the life of the contract. How ownership is stucture will be the key point in the network. Hopefully the SEC will get 49%-51% ownership.

I think they will too. Especially since ESPN will be controlling all but the 1 CBS game every week. The SEC/ESPN will be able to place games with teams that are in markets where the provider are playing hardball on the SECN to cause the subscribers to apply pressure to the providers. I think the only question is how long will the providers put up a fight. It took a couple of years for the BTN to get the coverage they wanted.

This deal has so much upside. There's no reason the region can't be better at hoops and maybe this exposure will help. Maybe baseball can step up through out the whole area instead of just local pockets. A lot of good history/current event stories for each school can bring about a more natural familiarity amongst the fan bases.

Lol, the biggest college presence in Memphis is Ole Miss. We bring that TV market along splitting the Jackson TV market with State.

USA today reportquote:
Assuming the conference maintains its current lineup of 14 members, the combination of new deals with ESPN and CBS, along with the formation of a 100% SEC-owned network, would bring the SEC schools nearly $23 million apiece in 2014-15,
Over 20 million, on average, for each school, for one year.
That was the projection prior to the SEC network.
The new contract will have us at $27-30mil/school just in tier 1 and 2 IMO -- that's before even considering the additional truckloads of cash the network will eventually bring.

Sky's the limit. So...the average increase maybe 15M per school per year? When it's all said and done?

No doubt. Being able to watch some of the Spring & summer sports will be huge for those sports. And getting more familiar with the other universities will help recruit normal students to those universities. Plus, just having the SEC's greatest games playing during the off-season will be worth having the channel for me.

Yeah, I think it essentially doubles when it's all said and done with the ability to climb much higher if the network structure is like the B1G(which is being reported), the money from that network will grow every single year.
It could easily be at $50mil/school by 2016 or 2017...

if that's the case, then the ACC will almost have to jump to either the SEC or B1G if they want to compete in the future. Heck if it is that much, OU will have to be asking themselves whether they can afford to stay hitched to the sips.

Boren (OU) effed up and I think, eventually, they are hosed. I'm probably in the minority but I don't see them invited by B1G nor SEC.

They definitely won't get into the B1G. they are no where near what the B1G is willing to except academics wise.
As for the SEC, I think their only chance would be first for UNC to decline the SEC, and for research to show that NCST can't deliver all of the NC markets. The second part of that is if the SECN can't get into the basic cable packages in the DFW market. I think Houston is a no brainer as far as getting the SECN into the basic packages. But if aTm (with the combinations of the other SEC school alumni) can't apply enough pressure to get the SECN into the basic cable packages in the DFW market, then the SEC may be able to justify bringing OU into the fold just to get the basic packages in that market (plus they would be bringing the OKC market also).
But with that said, I don't think either of those are going to happen. I think UNC will eventually come to the SEC, and I think the SECN will get into the basic cable packages in the DFW market.

Can we get that in crumpled up singles to fill the swim and dive facility for a little Scrooge McDuck celebration?
