Current SEC (not CDC) rule is if Contact Traced then 14 day quarantine...my son got Contact Traced at HS..was only in person Mon and Tues.. tested Sat, results negative..we let him free once test was back..so roughly a week..why make athletes quarantine for 14 days? Just test and let them play

Whose in charge of this?
Sec or teams themselves?
Sec better stay on top of this or you know some teams will try and skirt the rules

Now that they have the rapid test I expect that rule to get revised.

It will when it gets here....IMO, it will be a game changer. But it's not available yet the way I understand it.
Until then it will be a cluster fook.

UT cancelled scrimmage we had 27 missing a scrimmage, not because of positive tests but because of tracing...such a dumb rule

If I can get a rapid test as a normal dude i'm sure SEC football teams can get them.

Yeah it's a bullshite rule. It would make more sense if rapid testing weren't available, but that's not the case. If a player is "exposed" to someone on Monday and has a negative screening on Wednesday, there's no reason he should be forced into a mandatory 14-day quarantine. If someone tests positive during game week, you could realistically say the entire team was "exposed" and then that team is forced to forfeit 2 weeks? GTFO. If players aren't sick, then there's no reason to quarantine.

Yes, that was always going to be a disaster from the start.
Rapid testing SHOULD be a game changer but they didn’t revise this rule when the CDC revised back to work protocol for some reason so I won’t be holding my breath.

Well stop getting tested!!
Blame it on allergies, head cold, etc. The tests are screwing everyone.

Why quarantine them at all? Just let them play. It's rare for a college kid to even get actual sick from corona. Most of them never have symptoms.

Expect the roommate charts in athletic dorms to mysteriously change a lot during the season

Trump Administration Will Deploy 150 Million Rapid Tests in 2020
Today, as part of an historic initiative led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of and Defense (DOD), the Administration awarded a contract for $760 million to Abbott for delivery of 150 million rapid, Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card Point of Care (POC) SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests to expand strategic, evidence-based testing in the United States. Testing will be potentially deployed to schools and to assist with serving other special needs populations.
“The introduction of Abbott’s antigen test is another incredibly valuable result of President Trump’s all-of-America approach to constructing our world-leading COVID-19 testing capacity,” said HHS Secretary Alex Azar. “By strategically distributing 150 million of these tests to where they’re needed most, we can track the virus like never before and protect millions of Americans at risk in especially vulnerable situations.”
The Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card recently received emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration, does not require instrumentation, and will deliver COVID-19 test results in 15 minutes or less. The Administration has laid the groundwork for this program with months of collaborative work, paving the regulatory and innovation pathways.

Actually if you are wearing a mask and social distanced and don’t have symptoms you don’t need to quarantine according to the latest CDC rules. Your kids school needs to update. Presuming they are wearing masks and therein NOT within 6 feet of a positive COVID person for more than 15 minutes then they need not quarantine. LINK

Um, for awhile. My secretary was exposed and had rapid test results in under an hour. And this was about a month ago. Rapid tests aren’t exactly difficult to find anymore (depending where you live), especially given the FDA approved a cheaper saliva test a few weeks ago. Do you really think college football programs in the SEC don’t have the funding to pay for them?
