SEC commissioner Greg Sankey owns up to ineffective communication with A&M regarding Texas*, Oklahoma
Brent Zwerneman Feb. 25, 2022
Greg Sankey kept Texas* A&M and most everyone else in the dark last year about adding Texas* and Oklahoma to the Southeastern Conference, the SEC commissioner readily confesses. “I didn’t communicate effectively. I’ll own that,” Sankey told the Chronicle on Thursday night at Reed Arena, where he was on hand for the final home game of retiring A&M women’s basketball coach Gary Blair.
Sankey’s lack of transparency was by design last year, with the idea that the more people knew about the proposition, the less chance it had of actually happening. By the time the Chronicle broke the story in July that UT* and OU did indeed plan to exit the Big 12 for the SEC, the seismic shift was well down the tracks, with only a handful of key figures involved. The Longhorns and Sooners are scheduled to officially join the SEC on July 1, 2025, although many insiders anticipate the move to happen by 2023.

Frick you and your team for going to overtime

The Aggie meltdown over the summer about the expansion was hilarious.
It's basically been downhill for them ever since.

The Ags had finally pulled one over on the 40 acres.
Now not only are they gonna be forced in the same division they are forced to play every year again and forced to play OU.
Sankey didn't say anything because the backlash from scared Ag fans would have been enormous.

He kept them in the dark because if they found out they would scream, leak it to the public, try to get it blocked and throw tantrums. They couldn’t be trusted with that particular information.

Sidewalk is deranged. We need people like him in the military to focus their fervor on the Russians.

frick Sankey. I wish they would fire his arse and put someone in there who has a fricking clue other than assuming more teams = more money.
Brands are going to be damaged, and the only upside to that is that it's probably the OU and Texas brands.

Better than some of the alternatives.

You mean, kind of like Texas and Baylor acted when we left the big 12. Which did delay our exit one year. But waiting one year is a lot better than having to wait 4 years like OU and Texas are having to wait.

you mean how Baylor acted after they gave you their share of the Nebraska exit money and you lying aholes left anyway?

Aggie should just shut up and play ball. This little brother syndrome is unbecoming.

And this in turn drove their boosters insane and they just flat out started paying recruits to play. Wonder how it all shakes out in the end.

Goes to show what the SEC thinks about Aggy.

I don’t get why Aggies are mad about tu and ou coming over to the SEC. It’s more money for the conference, and they aren’t really competition on the field at the moment. It also puts tu back on the schedule after those pussies have been avoiding us for 10 years.
Also what a bold move by Stankey, “owning up” to his secretiveness when there are absolutely zero consequences. What is he gonna do? Send us a jelly of the month club gift certificate? I don’t care if those 2 join the conference or not, it’s just not a good way to do business on his part. frick him.
