Depends on what you go by. What he is doing now, then yeah. What he was doing then, nope.
Most who go "Grant was AP COtY at Dayton, Alabama must be awful" have no clue the transformation Grant had to undergo to make it happen. He deserves all the credit in the world for evolving.

It looks like Sumlin faced 11 ranked teams in that span and Fisher has faced 10.

Chizik > Gus.
Is this actually true? I know barnies hate Gus, but the dude has a lot of Atlanta appearances and wins over Alabama.
I mean, he may be a frustrating coach, but he somehow manages to field winning teams every now and then.

Nah.
A&M's games played vs teams that finished ranked
2012-2013: 10 (4-6 record)
2018-2019: 9 (2-7 record)

I hear you man but we went 13-1 in 2011 dream season by most teams. But how we lost and who we lost to had blood boiling down here.
We had the most talented team in LSU history up to that point and lost 21-0 in the Super Dome without even trying the QB that got us to 8-0. Maybe we were spoiled in the 2000s but I remember being in half empty stadiums in the 90s (before halftime!) and being a joke. After 1999 i saw how bad we could be.
Coach O proved how good we can be. That plus his lack of ego, love for Louisiana, and what we accomplished last season should please most reasonable fans for the foreseeable future. Would take a lot of 7-5’s in a row to stop this momentum.

Chizik went 8-5, 8-5, 14-0, and 3-9.
Gus - over the last 6 seasons - has averaged 4.8 losses per year. His only real successful year was with a team Gene built.
Gene had one bad year and they freaked out. But outside of that year he was just as good as Gus, but with a natty and he cost about $2M less.
Gus = a worse Sumlin

Hmmmm....
I guess Bradshaw replacing Collier here back in the day qualifies. Morris replacing Mumme of more recent vintage perhaps...but Mumme was part of the Phil frickface Fulmer snitchin where he got Kentucky and Alabama out on probation, so not sure I count Mumme as a firing. Pretty sure everyone else retired or took other jobs besides Joker Phillips who we clearly replaced with a significant upgrade in Mark Stoops.
Basketball wise we replaced Sutton with Pitino and Gillispie with Calipari so the only two firings weve ever had resulted in tremendous hirings. Tubby was allowed to save face by taking the Minnesota job and leaving, but the reality is he was forced out and issued an ultimatum that was going to be a firing if he didnt fire a couple of his assistants we wanted gone. So I guess replacing Tubby with Billy Clyde kinda maybe sorta counts.
Hey thanks Aggie you frickface ****s. We gave you Bear Bryant and you pay us back 50 yrs later with the drunk dumbfrick Gillispie. Real equitable, douchebags.

It's damn true, and any A&M fan with half a brain knows After two seasons: Kevin Sumlin 20-6 Jimbo Fisher 17-9 I dont know if Sumlin was the better coach but its clear Jumbo hasnt necessarily fixed anything yet.
What I am seeing is Jimbo is recruiting a lot better than Kevin had done in those two years and even getting better in recruiting every year. So we shall wait and see about this in the next 2 years. That will give you an idea by then.

If we're being real, 74-72 helped him out a ton.
Dude would've majorly been on the hot seat after two years of 7-5.

6 game swing huge?
People forget how weak the 2012 schedule was.
2012 A&M played a total of 7 FBS teams that ended the season with 7 or more wins, INCLUDING their bowl opponent. They finished 5-2 in those games. (forgot that shitshow of an SMU team managed 7 wins)
2018 A&M played 9 FBS teams that ended the season with 7 or more wins, including their bowl opponent. They finished 5-4 in those games.
2013 A&M played 9 FBS teams that ended the season with 7 or more wins, including their bowl opponent. They finished 5-4 in those games.
2019 A&M played 4 FBS teams that ended the season with 11 or more wins.
2020 A&M plays 3 TOTAL FBS teams that finished 2019 with more than 6 wins.

Also if you look at the recruiting classes, there's a MASSIVE difference between Sumlin's classes and Fisher's.
247 total composite score (2012-2020 classes)
Fisher 2020 - 289.49
Fisher 2019 - 284.67 (NONE have transferred out or left the team after one season)
Sumlin 2014 - 278.08 (#2, #4, #5, #6 and #7 recruits transferred out)
Sumlin 2015 - 270.61 (#3 and #5 recruits transferred out)
Sumlin 2013 - 267.75 (#2, #4, #5, #6, #8, #9, #10, #11 and #13 recruits transferred out, #3 and #13 lasted one season)
Fisher 2018 - 251.20 (6 of the bottom 10 recruits transferred out)
Sumlin 2017 - 248.58
Sumlin 2012 - 248.67 (less than half the class remained after one season)
Sumlin 2016 - 238.94 (#2 and #5 recruits transferred out)

Take 2019 for instance.
Auburn won by like a touchdown.
Georgia won by like 6 points.

It isnt like these were 3 point games or something.
3 point, 6 point and 8 point margins are all 1-score games.

Wasn’t Georgia whooping A&M till they scored some late points to make the game look respectable

Nothing new here. RatRodAggy is wrong again.
2012 A&M played 8 FBS teams that finished the season with 7+ wins and went 6-2 (they played 2 teams that finished with 11+ wins, going 1-1)...
only Florida and Alabama had more wins vs 7-win teams in the SEC that year.

aggy colonel lied
Sumlin played more teams that finished in the AP Top 25 through his first two seasons than Jimbo. And of course Sumlin had more wins (4 to 2).

Cool but lets not pretend you didn't score 10 points with under 5 minutes remaining against Auburn to make that look better than it really was.
