Typically it's
1) best W-L
2) H2H
3) opponent winning percentage (likely conference only)
4) ranking and/or coin flip
If they go to pods though and the 12 team playoff is in the picture, I wouldn't be shocked if they get rid of it in deference to getting more teams in CFP rather than self annihilating 1.
After all revenue from 1 CCG < potentially 3 CFP games.

Can we get rid of the championship game facade? As if it’s not just another money making scheme that means nothing…
Even in the NFC and AFC (both of which have 16 teams), it’s pretty easy to define a number 1 seed based on record and H2H numbers and/or other tiebreakers

I honestly don’t know why you want to be in the conference in the first place, especially going forward. Seems like a miserable experience and I forget y’all are even in the SEC most of the time tbh.
