When's the last time Auburn or any other team for that matter fired their FB & BB coach in the same year?

I think Smart is waiting for a big time job. I don't think he even looks at the SEC sans UK

i think he'd come back home to gainsville if Billy D left.

I thought Barbee was a great hire for AU at the time.

What's the deal with the AAU/UnderArmor stuff I keep seeing AU folks talking about?

Admittedly, I don't know/remember AU's history back in Cliff's days. Are those old issues still lingering for AU basketball all the years later?

Only SEC jobs Shaka Smart looks at in SEC are UK and Florida. He wouldn't even take the Illinois job last year.

How long does Vandy give Stallings? Guy has been there 12 years and has been a good coach. Won the SEC Tourny last year and made it to the Sweet 16 and has fallen off the map this year.

Illinois is a stepping stone school like Mizzou.

Basketball is different than football because of the tournament, there isn't a need to move up to a "bigger" school as the difference in pay isn't a big deal and there is only so many destination jobs.

You can take a job like Illinois, it is a decent job, but not a great job, you could win big or be run out of town in 4-5 years or you can win steadily at VCU and wait out an opening at a destination job.

Most coaches will wait for these jobs to open other wise you are like Barbee looking to start your career over after 4 years or so when you should have stuck it out at UTEP for a year or two more and waited for a better job to open up.

This is the same reason why you don't see coaches leave from one "big" school to another as often in CBB like you do in CFB.

Stallings is making like 2.3 million per year or something crazy like that. He's missed the NCAAT more than he's made it at Vandy. I hope he stays there for a long time. It seems like he's peaked for sure.

Stallings is going to get at least a couple seasons with the guys currently on the roster (and they'll be back in good shape in a couple IMO because they have some young talent). They probably lost more then 80% of their scoring from last season with the bunch he had leaving.

I don't think he's anywhere remotely close to a hot seat.

I don't. He has a great gig at VCU I only see him leaving for a top 10 type if job

Barbee is a terrible coach and probably not a very good person either. Maybe that is why all his recruits quit the team. AU should fire him ASAP, but I have a feeling he gets another year.

Mostly BS

He cheated, AU self imposed, supposedly still limiting the program ten years later.

He had a heavily senior laden team last year, lost like 3 guys to the NBA. He is good for a few more years if not longer. I doubt Vandy ever gets serious about replacing him unless he has multiple seasons like this one, he is one of the lowest paid coaches in the SEC (rumored) and has turned down several other jobs around the league and country to stay there over the years.

I tend to agree but mainly because next year should not repeat this year. As for the other part, Gene probably thought that at Auburn too.

Elite Eight
Final Four
NCAA Champions
Rebuilding year where best player got hurt midway through the season

If Calipari were to get fired next year no way anybody would dare replace him.

Sure, if Kentucky goes 0-18 in SEC play next year, he may be in trouble.

No kidding. Your fringe element might get stupid if he has a bad season next season but to suggest the seat gets hot is borderline castyzilla territory.

Duke will hire Collins or WOJO when coach K retires.

If Fox could get some good recruits around KCP we could be a dangerous team next year
