The defense for Bama is what is wild. Playing that fast and yet able to be so lock down defensively.

I know ShotQuality thinks this Tennessee team is unreal somehow but the offense Barnes is running is really bad right now.
Just an abhorrent product.
He brought in Schwartz to fix the defense but really needs to innovate some offensively.
Tennessee has zero people who can create their own shot in the flow of the offense without Springer.

Ole Miss’s great defense is being wasted on a train wreck of an offense

Yea - they and UCLA have somehow hit the very sweet spot of having elite shot quality ranks (93rd and 99th percentile) while having Rim/3 rates near the very bottom (#322 and #323).
I'd be curious to hear the breakdown of that.

This is warp speed for White coached teams at Florida, although his LT teams were always fairly fast.

I guess some people can't handle jokes.
Georgie, I apologize for derailing your thread.

It is interesting how fast they played at Tech and then how his Florida tenure was a gradual slow down until this season

Really interesting - so their Overall SQ ranking/3Rim differences really come down to good non-dunk looks around the basket off of the dribble drive.
I assume a lot of those come down to Fulkerson/Pons/James/Bailey drives? 1/3 of possessions ending with non-rim shots off the dribble drive - wow.

I knew that this thread wouldn’t last long until willie showed his ugly face.

Especially considering that Billy's teams before Mike arrived played very slow as well so it really doesn't make any sense.

Which is also interesting given that Donovan's early teams played very fast.

Yes they really need to stop shooting so many 6-7 footers. Pons, Fulkerson, Springer and Keon can make them but they have got to try to get to the rim instead. Bailey and James should not be shooting them.
The offense they run can work (look at their 2019 offense) but can’t be elite without an elite initiator who can break down the defense to start the possession. Springer is going to have to handle the PG duties down the stretch quite a bit.
Really wish they could have gotten Chandler in in January.

What is the general feeling on Vescovi? I know he's shot better this year, but his overall PG play seems to be getting mixed reviews from Vols I generally read during basketball season.

Spot up shooter who should handle it probably 10 minutes a game.
Doesn’t really fit what Rick needs or wants from a PG.
Chandler plays much more like Bone, Ford, Augustin, etc.
PG has to be able to get to the FT line and then make a decision. With Vescovi it is a grind to even get the offense initiated and he is no threat to put you in to a scramble by going by you.
Springer doesn’t have great foot speed but he gets to where he wants on the floor extremely well using his strength and is a great passer and decision maker. Ball handling is the concern but he isn’t terrible handling it.

Thats a really interesting site. How much do we trust it and like it?
Says Arkansas has the 8th adjusted offense, which makes me feel better cause before the 2nd half of last night. We could hit even our open shots after working hard for those looks.

This is now officially an asterisk season. These numbers are irrelevant.
LSU fans love a good asterisk as a balm for shitty athletics.
