Still way too early to put any weight into these, but it's nice to see how things are shaping up so far.

Honest question, for later in the year in March Madness, would you rather be an top tier offense with an average defense, or a top tier with an average offense? For example, Bama vs LSU this year. I feel like having a top tier defense keeps you in every game but having a top tier offense can win you games in a shootout. Wishing LSU could just figure some offense out

Well, we've had great offenses with lazy defenses (Gottfried) and great defenses with awful offenses (Grant) and they both frustrate you in different ways .
I think I'd probably have a long, tough defensive team that has some streaky shooters. An attitude of toughness comes with the defensive style (which you don't have as a good offense that doesn't defend, normally), and you can get hot for 2-3 weeks. You can't really get "hot" defensively - you kind of are who you are.

Give me the defense. UVA won it all playing great defense, and getting just enough offense, just a few years ago.

No argument there as a Saints and LSU fan. Would have many more titles, if we had a QB under Miles, or a college level defense during Brees' prime.

Given LSU has had the experience of both options these last couple of years great defense streaky offense.
Great defense can create good offense via turnovers and fast breaks etc.
great offense can’t create good defense. It can make the other team a little uncomfortable by changing their pace but it doesn’t make stops.

Yep - 100% agree. Elite defense with great athletes can control a game. It's very hard to do that the other way around if you can't guard.
I do think you need your defenders to also be great in transition and have a couple of guys who can be streaky good shooters. We've had some very good defensive teams who just could not score, and those teams had very little shot to beat really good teams consistently.
Our team last year was a pretty good example of a great defensive team who ran a good offensive style but was streaky in their implementation of it.

LSU will have to show it can win on the road, going to be tough at Florida, especially if Pinson is out.

Yikes. Didn’t realize there were THAT many bad losses at the bottom of the league

If I had to choose one, it would be great defense. Defense travels and can dictate pace, turn over points, etc. I do think it’s easier to get upset early in the tournament if you’re only good at defense tho. One guy gets hot from a mid major and it could be tough to overcome
