In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. Half the top teams don't even treat it like it matters in terms of who they throw and play.
Maybe 1 pt I guess.

I may tweak it a little to add something for super regional appearances (or regional wins), but it would be somewhat difficult because the tournament was expanded from 48 to 64 teams in 1999. Prior to 1999, there were only 8 six-team regionals, with the winners advancing to the CWS. Maybe add a point or two for an SECT title, although I'm on the fence about that. It doesn't really "matter" for a lot of teams there and they treat it as such.
On a side note, somewhat surprised USC is below Florida as they've been a really good baseball program since the early 70s. They're also at somewhat of a disadvantage because they were independent for over 20 years, so they don't get the benefit of some of those conference titles.

Yea - that was the issue there.

Yep, same thought.

South Carolina would probably be higher if they'd been in the SEC during the 70s/80s and they'd have a few more SEC titles and probably be even with or slightly ahead of Florida.

Good work. List looks about right imo

yeah, see my edit. They were independent from 1971 until they joined the SEC. They had 5 CWS appearances in that time frame, so it's kind of a little hard to weigh them with the same parameters as everyone else.

I’d suggest adding something for Super Regional Appearances. Programs should be rewarded who make it out of the regional round more than those who just make the tourney. You’re basically rewarding a 2-3 NCAA regional seed the same as a top tier hosting team who wins their regional and goes on to Supers.

Yea, probably a good idea, though the Super is relatively recent. Could just go with "regional championships".

We’ve still got about a 20 year sample size though.

I think the problem is that the thread is about all-time, and it makes it really tough to assess value on something that has only been around 20 years. That results in putting more weight on the last 20 years, which doesn't really jive so much with an all-time accomplishments metric. This exact thing always comes up when this type of thread is made But I honestly don't think it would have a huge effect on the rankings.

Pretty good thread. Now spend all day doing this for football and basketball. Thanks.

Updated - using 4 pts for each "Regional Win" puts USC/UF in a tie and bumps UGA barely in front of Missouri. Everyone else slots out the same.
