CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK : CAEL BAKER, OLE MISS

quote:

Ole Miss' Cael Baker went 4-for-4 with a pair of homers on Saturday in an 8-6 win over No. 1 Louisville. He finished the day with two HR, a double, two runs, and four RBI. He also added an RBI single in Saturday's series-clinching win. He is the first Rebel to have a multi-homer game within the first two games of the season since Cody Overbeck in 2008 and the first Rebel since at least 1997 to have a multi-homer game within his first two games of wearing an Ole Miss uniform.

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK : HESTON KJERSTAD, ARKANSAS

quote:

Arkansas' Heston Kjerstad led the SEC in homers (4), RBIs (10) and total bases (20) last weekend in helping the Razorbacks to a three-game sweep of Eastern Illinois. He hit two home runs in both the season opener and in the series finale, and each of Kjerstad's hits on the weekend drove in a run.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK : CONNOR NOLAND, ARKANSAS

quote:

Arkansas' Connor Noland picked up the win for the Razorbacks after going 6.2 innings against Eastern Illinois in the season-opener. He struck out a career-high 11 and allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk, holding opposing hitters to a .095 batting average at the plate.

CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK : OWEN DIODATI, ALABAMA

quote:

Alabama's Owen Diodati led the Crimson Tide with three multi-hit games in a three-game sweep of Northeastern. Five of his six hits went for extra bases, and he contributed multi-RBI efforts in each game of the weekend. Diodati homered twice on Opening Day and finished the weekend with three home runs, a double, triple and eight RBIs.

CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK : CHRISTIAN MACLEOD, MISSISSIPPI STATE

quote:

Mississippi State's Christian MacLeod struck out 11 of the 17 batters he faced and didn't allow multiple base runners during his five innings of work on Saturday versus Wright State. He allowed one hit - a third inning leadoff double - issued a walk and saw a runner reach on an error. He struck out the final five batters he faced to close out a dominant first career start.

Macleod should be our Friday guy going forward. JT has the most potential but I really don’t think he has the command to be a true Ace.

No one should ever get bent out of shape about a player of the week award, but I thought Zach DeLoach had a good chance.

7-9 (1 Double, 2 HR)
4 Walks
5 RBI
7 Runs

Heston's weekend was just nuts!

Kjerstad was just a few feet short of hitting his 5th homer to dead center but it hit off of the wall

Should be in for a monster year. I think he hit something like 8 home runs in our 7 scrimmages before the season.

His posture and how he looks in motion bother me more than his face. He kinda slouches and his shoulders are stiff as hell, but hey, he can roll around on his back for all I care as long as he keeps producing.

Sorry, Alabama guy. Saw the A and just not used to Bama doing anything in baseball.

I can't tell if I'm more amused at the jab at Bama or triggered that you'd mistake our sexy font for that trash.
