Thoughts on your teams so far?
For Arkansas, 4 homers, 30 runs, 38 hits this weekend. Seems as though the offense hasn't missed a beat. Also, caught a foul ball in the same exact location and with three players converging. Catch was met with a great applause by Hog fans. (I lol'ed in real life).
How the league faired this past weekend...
Arkansas 3-0
Florida 3-0
Georgia 3-0
Kentucky 3-0
LSU 3-0
Miss State 3-0
Tennessee 3-0
aTm 3-0
Alabama 2-1
Auburn 2-1
South Carolina 2-1
Vandy 2-1
Ole Miss 1-1
Missouri 1-2

Watched a bit of LSU this weekend. Concerning early the holes you've gotten in, but shown grit to get out of those holes both times.
Question...Do you guys have a LHP on roster? Was curious about some of the pitching moves yesterday by PM.

Looking to sweep Austin Peay today. Bats were really swinging yesterday and Thompson played well on Friday. Should have a better idea of what they have when they head to Lubbock next weekend to play Texas Tech.

Tech has given up 20 runs in two games to Oregon this weekend. May be a good chance for the Cats to get a solid early season series win.

1.
He has a sore arm so they’re being cautious, but he was warming up in the bullpen the other day, so we’ll see.
Not concerned about that as much as I am the lack of bat at the bottom of our lineup. Mainieri is throwing a lot of freshmen in the fire to see what they’ve got, so I don’t think the back 1/3 of the lineup is set, yet.
The top of the lineup is scary.

Okay. I was curious. I figured you guys had some lefties.

Early season stuff. Hopefully your fan base doesn't go overboard too early on PM.

Too late on that. We had “fans” melting after the third inning of opening day. Embarrassing

So far, I’m impressed with State. 36 runs while giving up 5. A lot of good hitters with power in the lineup this year. Vastly inferior opponent, but I feel #15 is a little low. I think State is a top 10 team this year.

Starting pitching was solid.
Bats got going.
We got some speed
Relief/bullpen still a question mark
It was Dayton and we are 3-0.
Looks like we are a team that could flirt with hosting a regional. Glad UGA baseball is back

Through two games so far with Auburn.
We are really young with our pitching, and are going to need to figure out our bullpen. One positive is we have the best pitcher in the conference in Tanner Burns.
Bats are a bit erratic right now, but we weren't very consistent last year either.
Defense has to get better, although we are only returning 2 everyday starters in the field.
Auburn has 18 new players this year so it is going to take some time to figure out the batting order, who plays where, and how to use our bullpen, including our 10 LHP.

Our Saturday starter hurt his non-throwing shoulder in practice the Thursday before opening weekend. We threw a juco transfer that got shelled. Not worried though because we will get our Saturday guy back in a few weeks.
Our freshman first rounder is throwing today so hopefully our pitching will match what happened Friday.
Our hitting looks great so far though. Lots of home runs.

I was beginning to think it was gone forever.
I missed how we gave up 7 runs in the second game. I'm assuming that was the bullpen. I really like Schunk. He's hitting the ball really well. Does anyone else have a 3rd baseman who's also their closer???

Won 2 of 3 against a terrible team. But, better than losing 2 of 3, so baby steps.

It’s gonna be another GREAT year for SEC baseball.

Second game we threw Justin Glover, Kristofak, and cole Wilcox in relief for Proctor after the game was firmly in hand. Glover hasn’t thrown in a game since his freshman s ason and Wilcox is a freshman. Kristofak struggled but hopefully just rust.
Overall we abused a team we should abuse in 3 games and was pleasantly surprised by Riley King and Patrick Sullivan who are making Their first real contributions to the starting lineup. Otherwise, Shepherd, Schunk, Bradley, and Talley don’t seem to have missed a beat since last season. Schunk will be an All American utility player at seasons end.
Locey and Hancock are SEC caliber starters. Proctor looked serviceable but not sure he’s the long term answer. If Wilcox can work out the freshman junk, he is going to be a better version of Robert Tyler; throws a 97+ mph fastball with a tail on it that is just unfair for right handed batters.
Big question now is who in the hell takes over Curry’s old DH spot? We knocked 3 HRs from Talley, King, and Sullivan but two were to the short porch in right (King hit a rope to left). We need a power presence in the lineup. Not too worried about our ability to get on base but it makes a difference to have at least one guy in your lineup that opposing coaches have to consider throwing around.

Too late. Some fans fired PM in the first inning of Friday night’s game then those same fans brought him back in the 7th with a raise and extension.
