Not a vast surprise. Vanderbilt is an absolute machine in baseball. The top 5 teams are pretty much exactly who we thought they would be.

Surprises, for me, is Ole Miss at 6 ahead of A&M. I thought the Aggies would have more of an impact in baseball, especially since Ole Miss has to fight State and Southern Miss for in state recruits.

It also shows what a turn around Georgia has pulled off.

Agreed.

Also, I was somewhat surprised to see South Carolina hovering right around .500. It makes sense, obviously, with their recent struggles. But just a bit surprising to see I guess.

This isn't this season though, its since the expansion. You naturally think that State would be in the top 5.

It does, as someone said, rather glaringly point out the difficulties USC has run into. Not just this year but leading up to it.

It makes sense,
Gamecocks were 98-83 (.541%) before this year's aberration of a season. Carolina's worst win % in an SEC season was .423% (11-15) in Coach Raines' final season before retirement.

USC currently sits at a .259% clip with 3 games to play in an injury-filled season that began with pitching back in fall ball. all this after 1 game away from Omaha in Kingston's first year in Columbia.

Title IX? Opportunity Vanderbilt has zero to do with Title IX. What is your school doing to defray the rising cost of higher education to lower income families?

From 1992 - 2007 (Rod Delmonico Era) UT was 17 games over .500 in SEC play.

Here is how they have done since kicking Delmonico to the curb:

Todd Raliegh (2008 - 2011) - 35 games under .500 (average of -8.75 per season).

Dave Serrano (2012 - 2017) - 65 games under .500 (average of -10.83 per season)

Tony Vitello (2018 - Present) - 9 games under .500 (average of -4.5 per season).

best SEC record ever. LSU went 23-7 and finished 3.5 games back for 2nd place , although the two did meet in the SECT final and LSU won in 11 innings. (they did not face each other in the regular season)

Oddly enough, Vandy did not make CWS that year and LSU went 2Q in Omaha. Those 57 wins LSU had that year were the most in school history. That was right at the beginning of the BBCOR bats and we did not have a team built for TD Ameritrade. UCLA won the CWS by basically throwing batting practice and watching balls die at the warning track.
