Softball too.

For sure the baseball manager is gone in mid June. He is a lame duck and his contract was not extended or renewed last year. There is a real good chance we don't even make the SEC tourney.

Softball coach possibly gone this year but probably next year when her contract ends.

How in the world did we get into such a mess?

It's amazing how in both sports there are teams that are in the top 30 but in the bottom 3rd of the conference.

Softball is even more ridiculous from a top to bottom standpoint. All but one team is top 40.

How many Northern and Eastern Schools had a Fall season or were allowed to practice indoors? We all know how the Western Schools dealt with Covid.

SEC Baseball & Softball have been like this for at least a decade now. Not sure COVID has much to do with the leagues being great top to bottom in both these sports again.

I think Southern and Warmer Western states have advantages over Northern states because the climate.

Occasionally it's only handful of times you see Omaha worthy teams come from those regions.

Willing to bet that at good many Northern states have more Ice hockey parks and rinks than baseball fields.

Maybe Wisconsin and Minnesota, but not Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, New York, etc. The climate is definitely an issue for high school and college baseball early on and effects scouting, especially.

College baseball just isn't as big a deal in those places, and amateur baseball is better and much deeper in the Sun Belt and California, as the draft shows every year.

Some of that is true, but the polls are SEC Top heavy more than normal this year. When other leagues and area eat their own due to lack of practice, those others leagues have a chance to move up in the pecking order. We saw it in the NCAAT with all the early upsets. Were they upsets or just under seeding by the committee due to lack of information ?

I think they're pretty much the same as they've been for a while now. I don't see much difference at all from past seasons other than some of the team names.

I don't think COVID conditions and restrictions in Michigan or New York have had very much effect on college baseball or softball rankings.

UCLA, Oregon, Washington and Arizona are all ranked in the Top 8 in softball - which is pretty much how it usually goes.

Great to hear Covid didn't make a damn difference.

Wait to the end of the season. That is when the other teams will catch up. Look at the NCAAT. Unlike CF, early loses are not a season killer.

I'm anticipating the postseason will go like most postseasons - a bunch of SEC/B12/P12 teams in Omaha/OKC.

Did you feel the same about the NCAAT?

NCAA BB doesn't really have a "usual" conference pecking order in the S16/E8/F4.

Baseball and softball do. The teams aren't always the same, but they are usually overwhelmingly Sun Belt/West Coast heavy.

It's possible the B1G or Big East have a huge baseball/softball postseason I guess, but it'd be a very rare occasion.

My point is polls are tainted by the past reputation of a team or conference. Teams whose records do not justify their postion in the polls are given the benefit of the doubt . The post season will be similar to what we saw in the NCAAT. Teams you didn’t think had a chance will pull out some upsets.

I don't think it's nearly as much that way in baseball and softball because the schedules are basically the same as they were in any regular, non-COVID year. Teams from the B12/ACC/SEC/AAC and the smaller, good leagues (Sun Belt, Atlantic Sun) have all been playing each other like they did in other years.

Football and basketball were pretty siloed off in terms of conferences and regions. Baseball and softball have been about as close to "normal" as they could be.
