I am extremely underwhelmed by this hire. No offense to y'all, but Muschamp is supposed to be a defensive guru and I ain't seent it yet.

If we had lost Caldwell to the Cocks I'd be pissed.

Wish him the best at USC.

His defensive statistics were massively deflated by a ball control offense (LSU, AU, UF). Having to run a little more uptempo makes him look a lot worse.

Plus the #1 key to a great defense is something USC will always struggle to have - talented depth. It's simply too difficult for y'all to stack 8 starter quality DL and 6 starter quality CBs.

I never liked his philosophy on blitzing/pressure. We basically never pressured with more than 4, which meant very few sacks and very few turnovers - basically the only TOs we got were 5 star corners making ridiculous ints on bad throws. Not a winning formula, especially not in 2013-present.

Going by a small sample size of last year's Total Defense some P5 teams in the top 15 of total defense include Miss State, Michigan St, Utah, Cal, and Iowa. If that list of teams can field such defenses against P5 schedules there is no reason we shouldn't be able to either.

Scott is originally from SC so maybe that had something to do with it.

I just have a natural aversion to anyone with the last name of Scott bc of Brad Scott.
