ESPN just lost Todd Blackledge to NBC and Big Ten.

ESPN has the worst production of NBC, CBS and Fox. And now they are losing all their good announcers.

Big Ten now has deals with CBS, Fox and NBC.

We are stuck with ESPN only. Ffffffffffff

SEC Network is what’s fricking us. Those productions are run by students making minimum wage.

Can we back out of our deal?..

I'll always contend the coverage of CBS and the fact the production of their games was similar to their NFL coverage, helped make the SEC look more big time.

I disagree. I can’t stand CBS. So glad we’re done with them. The game lasted an hour longer than it should, Verne and Gary drove me up the wall, reduced number of night games, commercials out the wazoo.

Good riddance.

Yeah not gonna miss getting to Birmingham at 2AM after their night games because they decided to run 2 hours of commercials.

I’ll miss their theme song though.

The broadcast crews are iffy, but skycast is the coolest.

Don’t we have a deal with ABC too that replaces CBS?

Yes but all ESPNbroadcasts are pretty much the same. They will put more money into some more than others.

But everything CBS, FOX, NBC does murders ABC ESPN

BINGO!

They will make you stream a game before they will use it. I don't think they have used it in about 3 years.

ESPN has been going this route for nearly half a decade now. They are putting their money on the broadcasting rights. They think correctly - though I hate it - that broadcasting right hostage taking is all that matters. It doesn't matter if the camera crew loses the ball carrier, nor if the booth crew has any personality or insight, nor if the video feed quality looks like its been compressed to hell and back. All that matters is having the broadcasting rights to content people want to see.

Disney has become a miserly cheap company. Their cinema tentpole franchises have computer generated graphics that are inferior to works from the mid-aughts now. It's 2023!

I blame Eisner who took over for Walt and paid himself 600 million a year in stock options and bonuses. Been downhill since. That whole :"Greed is Good" mantra form the 1980's has done too much damage to this country.

Yeah, unfettered capitalism - despite being lauded by many - is actually the root cause for most things that ail this country.

Capitalism left unchecked will erode the foundation underneath it that allows it to flourish.

Regulation isn't the only thing that "checks" capital. A moral anchoring is also sorely lacking these days. No pride in the product, only a lust for profit.

Cheap crappy products with little to no support after purchase make more money than quality products a company can stand behind and be proud of.

Why? Because the market demands it. People would rather buy lots of cheap shite from China that works poorly and breaks quickly, than buy fewer items of quality that will work well and last. If people were truly clamoring for quality products, companies would make them. Fact is, they aren't.

It is what it is.

Agree completely. Say what you will about CBS, but they played a big part in the SEC becoming the premier conference in CFB.

Setting yourself apart is huge for branding. With ESPN we’re just another packaged game on TV.

Terrible foresight.

I don't watch anything for the pregame stuff (shows are just really bad) and only watch SEC network for the post game. The only thing I'll miss is Todd Blackledge. He was my favorite announcer. We'll probably be stuck with Beth Mowins

Rumors of Disney dropping ESPN too. Probably not going to happen but they've admitted the possibility has come up due to the fact ESPN makes no money.
