After all that talk about not playing anyone, LSU has played 1 more top 30 team than Bama? That's interesting.

Removing ourselves (since we can't play ourselves), we will have played 5 of the 6 best teams in the SEC (LSU, State, A&M, Mizzou, Auburn) in the regular season and the 6th in the SECCG.

Hard to argue we slid by against the dregs of the league.

Pretty obvious Penn State is only top 10 to make OSU look better.

This happens EVERY, EVERY year. LSU plays a pretender the first game of the season, always toots the we play Florida horn even when Florida sux. They tout the "top 10" wins that aren't really top 10 wins.

Then, once the dust settles Bama has usually played the toughest schedule. Every single year Bama ends up playing like 4 top ten teams. Yes, I'm counting the playoffs but those are games too. Look at the possible game this year of teams that will finish in the top 10 Bama will play.

LSU
Georgia
Notre Dame
Michigan
Ohio State
Oklahoma
WVU
Clemson

LSU will have played Georgia and Alabama.

To rank schedules after week one or two or even 5 or 6 is asinine.

I don't trust rankings that have Auburn 19.

Not disagreeing with your overall point, but would argue that Kentucky was better than State and Mizzou on the field (can argue against the second... bullshite PI and all...). They went 3-2 against the top 30. Miss St. went 2-3... Also, Auburn collapse tough to include them as 6 best teams this year. But no, I wouldn't fault Bama's path to the CFP once the SECCG has been played.

Which is why talking about schedules midway through the season is patently retarded.

Some team's schedules are front loaded, others backloaded.

So...Tennessee is the only SEC team that has faced 3 top 10 teams?

hasn't played a single team in the top 30, yet desperately want attention and credit for being something they aren't - good or relevant.

Let me preface this with... IDGAF about people's strength of schedule in general. It's massively overblown and really only comes into play if your conference SOS is generally weak (see: Wisconsin) But if you're going to make an evaluation, at least do so genuinely and with a rational approach...

quote:

Every single year Bama ends up playing like 4 top ten teams. Yes, I'm counting the playoffs but those are games too.

You don't really get to count those in your "SOS" when you didn't elect to schedule them. Those games are a result of your on field efforts through the schedule that you *did* elect to schedule.

When comparing SOS, the only thing that is really fair to evaluate is the regular season 12 games. When determining the last 4 teams, the Conference Championship games are certainly fair to evaluate across the pool of candidates (because if you are ND and don't play one, you should be penalized relative to Bama, UGA, tOSU, etc). But that's in a relative to grouping aspect only.

If you're looking at LSU and Bama, only one of those teams can lay claim to the slot in Atlanta. If it were LSU, I wouldn't give them any more SOS "credit" for the game in Atlanta when comparing to Alabama either.

Yea I totally agree here. SOS at the end of the year is fine for kind of a postmortem, but SOS is generally used to see how wide ranging performances in the regular season compare. The playoffs are actual games to see who is better. It's kind of irrelevant, and you can't then compare it to a team that didn't play 2 games against Top 4 teams.

One of the only teams period

21. Michigan State (1-2, 2-2)
47. TCU (0-3, 1-5)
52. Tennessee (0-3, 1-4)

It's pretty obvious why your comment was ridiculous and inaccurate. Perhaps I shouldn't assume that posters here can figure it out for themselves.

No, idiots are people who thought beating Miami and Auburn and losing to Florida made them a great team after only 6 weeks of the season had been played

Uh... can you define inaccurate and use it in a sentence please? For reference, here was his comment that you responded to...

quote:

quote:
1. Alabama (0-0, 4-0)
quote:
11. LSU (1-1, 3-2)

You can point out that "at the time" it was valid, but there is nothing inaccurate about his comment there? Perhaps you can prove me wrong though.
