I was listening to WJOX this morning and they played a segment of the Dan Patrick show. In it, Dan Patrick pointed out how he is never the source of "Breaking News" because his sources vet things pretty well before sharing. With that said, Dan shared on his show that he has a source that told him 6 teams being considered by the SEC for expansion.

They are (and don't worry I laughed at it too) -

Louisville, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida State and UCF. The thought process being that it would virtually lock up all the viewership in those states.

If this is true, the SEC must be using the Dominion voting machines in Atlanta to count Georgia Tech viewership.

and UCF

Brings nothing to the conference athletically or academically. It’s a commuter school whose student body & alumni base is 90% made up by people who don’t care they attended there.

IF Georgia tech is being considered, it’s only to keep the big10 out of ATL.

I think the list is suspect because of UCF being on it.

Do we really need the 6 additional viewers Tech would bring?

I just don't understand (yes I do, money. It's always money) WHY we feel like we have to continue expanding? everything was perfect at 12, but 10+ years ago if the SEC wnated to make even more moeny by adding 2 ok wahtever. Enter mizz/atm. Then other conferences go haywire but the dust settles and everyone is happy for a decade. Now fast forward to this year, and for some reaon (money) we decide that aint enough! 16 it is. So we add 2 teams that have no business in the SEC to bring us to 16. So then the pac12 freaks out and their people start leaving for the big 10. Now the big 10 has 16. The big 12 and ACC are screwed but whatever, we've got 2 big days with 16 each. But now the SEC acts like someone insulted its penis size and we simply can't let the Big 10 have 16 teams like we do! Eff that! We'll take 20!!!

I mean I get that it's baout money, but what is the problem wiht just being at 16? We had no interest in having 20 teams 12 months ago when we still had 14 members. Even after expanding to 16 members all was fine. It was only when the big 10 got to 16 that we started freaking out and talking abotu 20. Why???

IF we have to have expansion I don't have any issues with those listed with the exception of UCF. Don't see any benefit. I am just happy that Wake Forest is not on the list...shivers

Can't wait for Miami to join the Big 10 and for FSU to get left out cold.

It would add another team with a NC in football into the conference...

They do bring academics unlike UCF. Plus, it will allow Auburn students to do the Wreck Tech Pajama parade. Don't knock it until you've seen coeds in their jammies.

If the SEC expands further, the odds of me being struck by lightning twice today are greater than UCF becoming an SEC member.
Dont need Dan Patrick for that. These G5 schools always want to believe.
UAB fans around here are convinced the Big 12 will give them a look because the B'ham tv market is the largest in the country on fall saturdays. I guess They don't know that NONE of that market is because UAB is playing.

Same could be said for Miami. And like Bama, 99+% of their fan base never attended the school they root for.
