Then when Hurts struggles Saban will put Tua in for the rest of the year. Tua will be starter the second game. Also, he will need Hurts next year in case Tua gets injured.

And that would be a douchebag move to make. Wouldn't be surprised to see Saban do it though.

What’s stopping Hurts from transferring after the first game like Barnett did a couple of years ago? I imagine it would be better to get Jones or the grad transfer reps as the No. 2 then let Hurts get them and then transfer anyway. That’s just my opinion though.

So he'll transfer a couple games into the season like Blake the california surfer boy?

Great plan

He doesn’t need to start him. Classes begin on 8/22. Once he goes to a class, he’s there for the semester.

This summer I think Saban will give him the most reps with the 1’s. This will keep him around. Hurts will have a very, very short leash, like this long —

Really? Because Saban said at his press conference that Hurts might transfer.

The best coach in football isn't gonna start a clearly inferior player just to keep him happy.

If that was the case why wouldn't he start inferior DL and LBs since he has a plethora of 5* as backups?

Every coach in this conference and the vast majority in the country will start the player they believe gives them the best chance to win. Sometimes politics play a part but that has to do with boosters, and checking the boosters was the first thing Saban did at Alabama.

We all know Tua is the better qb - but Saban is a master strategist. He constantly thinks ahead. Risk and reward. He will do what is best for the team over all - the best is to have two highly functional qbs. Our season would collapse immediately if Tua got hurt and there was no Jalen in place (FSU, for example). No other team in College football has a pair of qbs like BAMA. Saban will protect this tactical advantage.

Bama probably has the best QB in CFB. Why play games like this?

Is this legit Bama news, or your opinion?

I want my Bama news to be fair and balanced...and free of biased opinion and typos.

He's good, but not the best in the country, not yet at least.

Saban is going to play the best QB. Period. I'd be shocked if the possibility of Hurts transferring has any effect on his decision of who starts. That's not how leaders conduct effective decision-making.

Never saw an 18 year old bait a safety like that on the biggest stage.

Yeah, but I never saw the best qb in the country throw a pass to a receiver blocking on a called running play.He got lucky on the Ridley td, and of course he allowed a coverage sack in ot, when he had plenty of time to run out of the pocket and throw it away. He has the potential to be the best, but he needs more experience.

Not gonna argue. I'm a tiger fan. Just saying he was a damn freshman. He's gonna be nasty. Hope I'm wrong
