It all began in West Virginia. Saban born in Fairmont, Fisher born in Clarksburg. A short 25 miles apart.

The two eventually teamed up at LSU to bring them a national championship. As time progressed, both moved on to bigger things. Saban winning multiple national championships at Alabama..Fisher winning another at Florida State with a win over Auburn.

But with the winter wind came a sense of restlessness in the Southeast. Would Fisher remain at FSU? Would Saban continue to coach even after all the success? We reached answers with the hiring of Jimbo at A&M and the extension of Saban at Alabama.

Once on the same team...now facing each other in a future showdown for the SEC West. Two great recruiters, coaches and friends. Who will emerge to challenge the rising Kirby Dynasty? With Jimbo's recruiting it is only a few years until we are looking at a new Game of tCentury.

No Terry Bowden in this story???

Do you think it's some cosmic accident Jimbo took the reins from Bobby Bowden at Florida State???

You skipped a lot of chapters there, Daniel.

Saban is a better dresser and has already eaten Jimbo's lunch.

I believe Jimbo Fisher was the QB coach who trotted Gabe Gross out there for Auburn and tried to start a 5'6" RB in the SEC. Let that sink in for a minute

I remember finebaum saying right after the fsu 2013 national title that jimbo wanted out of Tallahassee in the worst way. I thought that was crazy but as time went on it was true.

The Ags made a good hire. I'd just like to know what jimbos problem with fsu was. Especially interesting is that it went on for years.

The problem was two ways. His tenure was very underwhelming aside from 2013 and his last team there was awful.

You’re right. Since Saban arrived, there’s hasn’t been much of a showdown. Mostly just anomalies and flukes that keep us out of Atlanta from time to time.

But if there were a program set up to stand toe to toe with Bama in the West on a yearly basis, the only team that can do it is TAMU.

Jimbo will be an unmitigated disaster. Unless he can find a QB that rapes women, but at A&M that will be hard to find with all the extraordinarily gay buttsex that goes on there

No. Because it ain't happening. Fisher will struggle not getting to play Boston College and Wake Forest. Jimbo will be playing against the Alabama schools as well as A&M's big brothers - LSU and Arkansas. Fisher will not coach for his entire 10 year contract.

Who else is it gonna be? They’re the only ones in the West bringing in enough talent to compete every year moving forward.

LSU and Auburn have both brought in more talent than TAMU over the past few years.

Fisher and the head of Seminole Boosters hated each other

Talent wasn't their problem before. He's a mediocre coach at best.

It’s almost as if they hired a new coach or something.

Yes, a coach that couldn't even get an ACC team to a bowl game in his last season.
