In other words
“ team wasn’t ready for the first real test of the year so the playoff committee should ignore the results. They don’t really count”

No he's not. He's making excuses and implicitly blaming his players.

For a guy like Saban the inability to impose your will on the opponent would create a nervous feeling.

bama is a great team and likely one of the best 4 in the country this season, but I suspect any bama fan would think they play "soft" compared to past Saban teams.

You nailed it

What do past years have to do with this current season?

Not sure whether it's coaching or personnel but this Bama defense is soft as a marshmallow. I've noticed them getting pushed around in several games prior to LSU. Not sure Bama belongs in playoff this year so I'll miss no sleep if they are ultimately left out. They have won so much over the last decade plus, it's not the end of the world if they have to settle for a NY6 bowl. Just hope they play to win wherever they end up and don't turn in a performance like 2013 OU or 2008 Utah. I understand being disappointed but play for the name on the jersey instead of just rolling your helmet out there.

He was nervous because he knew they weren’t good enough and he hasn’t felt that way in 7 years....he is a great coach so he knew what the result was going to be...

Well this is just false. I can point to some other games in the series if you'd like to see what the above looks like.

But great game, LSU won pretty convincingly and that's all that matters.

The whole tooth-bearing college football world is so tired of this pipsqueak drama queen.

As I said before, he knew what was coming before the game. The Gumps just refused to believe it.

Saban knew that the LSU game was going to be the first true test for his football team. Up to that game , it had basically been a cakewalk for Alabama.

Won the game? No doubt.
The better team on Saturday? Agree

Kicked their arse? Nah. 29-0 is kicking someone's arse. Letting a team cross the 50 only once while being shutout is kicking someone's arse. Beating someone by 5 and outgaining them by 18 yards is winning the game. Congrats on it. Your team deserved that win for sure. But they didn't "kick their arse".

He didn't really seem to yell or get upset much either. Just his arms crossed and looking at the ground a lot. Was really weird to see.

Noticed that as well. He wasn’t his usual self. I’m used to seeing him fired up, jumping up and down, and yelling on the sidelines. In his defense, the man is damn near 70 years old.
