Saban: I really didn't do any politicking, the networks asked me to come on and I did

Q: How strange was it last night doing a little politicking, calling in to ESPN? And what into that decision to do that?
Saban: “Well, they asked me to do it. I didn’t politic to do it. They asked me if I would come, and I said, ‘I’d be glad to.’ I really was doing it for our team and the players on our team that have worked hard all year long and who were very disappointed in the way they played in the last game in a very tough environment in a rivalry game and came up short. For them to have a second opportunity now I think is something that I certainly wanted to try to do the best I could as their coach to give them the opportunity to do. That’s why we did it.
“So, I don’t know if it had any impact on anybody on the committee, but I did want to at least put our case out there, in terms of our whole body of work, what we’d done all year long, trying to get the four best teams in there, and I think it worked out that way.

Any unbiased person would agree with Saban.

Nick is a whore for the spotlight, but who cares. The committee wanted Saban in, regardless.

On game day and a call in late at night. Nah nothing to see here. I wonder how much a select few on the “committee” got deposited in the bank this week?

I really don’t see why people are upset. Seemed like common knowledge that Bama had the best one-loss resume in the country.
I can understand buckeyes being pissed, but all others are just pathetic bitches.

Whether politicking or not... so what. Saban saying and doing whatever it takes to get Bama into playoff. Have to respect that.

The only time little nicky isn't lying is when he's underwater. This is the same prick who said yrs ago a team not winning it's conference SHOULDN'T be in the playoffs!!! What a pos!!

If you are a HC and not politicking when you need to. You are failing to do your job.

As believable a yarn as Hillary's "Clean it? Like, with a cloth?" line of bull.

Does Saban even know when he's lying anymore?

Can't blame the man. His job is to do what's best for his team. It also opens up a scenario where a team can make the playoffs without winning their conference championship. Kudos to Saban.....GOAT.
