Nick Saban on when he plans on retiring: "No time soon. I don't have a timeframe. I love doing what I'm doing. I love being in a position of leadership. I love to be able to impact young people in a positive way and help them be more successful in life."

So that means he'll retire after next season. Don't believe anything Nick says

After winning his first NC at Bama, he said it was just the beginning.

He's going to be coaching Bama for the next 8-9 years.

Honestly, I figure him for the type to coach onto his death bed. Football really does make him happy (despite his demeanor most of the time lol). I don't think he would know what to do with himself if he retired. Coaching keeps him feeling young and fresh.

Same was said by Bowden and Paterno before running their respective dynasties into the ground beyond repair. Saban seems to be following the same script. Bowden went from dominant to delusional in one off-season and had to be run. Bama deserves nothing less.

That was the all time gaf from Steve no doubt. In order to do what is best for the program Steve should have lied a little that day.

“I will not be head coach at Alabama”

But also, what is he supposed to say? Yeah I’ll probably retire in the near future. I’m sure that would be good for recruiting

AND, we'll make him quit just like we did the Bear, 20-10 in the early 80's...

Here's what I've found about people in my 73+ years on this earth:
If a person really likes his profession, he/she is usually good at it.
If they're really good at it, they become much sought after in that field, AND make a very, very good income from it.
And if they both, like their job, AND make a very fine income from it, they'll do it as long as they can!

This is what I've told my kids, and other young folks who are conflicted about what they should do with their lives.....it worked for me!
