Saban: How can we be historically great offensively when we’re ranked third in our league?

Saban asked if Alabama's passing numbers surprise him: "If you want to look at the offensive stats for total offense, we're third, aight, just in our league. So, it's not like we're setting a world record or anything like that."

He's a miserable little man. Seems nothing makes him happy

If he was so worried about offensive stats then why does he sit his best players in the third quarter? This is just the cat and mouse game he plays with the media.

It surprises me Saban would even follow such a meaningless stat.

He's reaching for criticism anywhere he can get it. Otherwise how do you continue to push, work, and motivate your players on a daily basis?

Phil Landry had a great comment about this today on ATL radio in regard to both UGA and Bama. They are good enough that coaches have to nit pick.

Yep. In a different context I could see him answering a question about offensive ranking by saying "that's honestly something I pay attention to."

Don’t think he is miserable..... think this is how you set your expectations when your a champion!

Something LSU needs to step up in as a staff if we want to compete with lil Nicky.

Hey man, I keep wondering how you can be a national champion but finish 2nd in your division.

Also, just realized that Bama and SC finished 2nd in their divisions last year.

If I was a member of the media I would ask him a question about the Dolphins every day

Surely his players aren’t dumb enough to fall for that

I don't think that is far off from what he really does think.

Primarily, he is just doing his part to attempt to deflate team egos and keep them focused on improvement, which is completely in line with what he asked the media to do in the post game last Saturday

But, I truly think he is disappointed in the disparity between the 1st team to 2nd team to 3rd team play on offense and defense. Inexperienced or not, he knows the talent levels throughout the ranks and is pissy they are so inconsistent and does like its effect on depth and individual work ethic.

That and I think he has completely given up on the kickers.

I do find it funny that he threw out such a stat, as his hypocritical nature with such things would surely cause him to bite a reporter's head off who would dare ask him about that stat. We'd get some sort of "you tell me a'ight. I'm not worried about our stats compared to others, a'ight. I can't control that. All I can do is focus on getting this team to play the best it can, on every play, against our opponents. That's my focus... do you have questions on that? No? Didn't think so."

No, tater...he’d glare at the reporter and say, “Stop asking me, a’ight?”

You may wish to watch the 2nd team OL before you get to the 3rd team. Truth is the 2nd bunch can't block anybody.

And probably played the worst overall defenses combine in the league.
