The University of Alabama football program remembers the devastation of the deadly tornadoes that struck Tuscaloosa in the spring of 2011 and the help it received. Now it wants to give back.

The program is

Everyone down here in the Baton Rouge area appreciates things like this. I have lost almost everything in my home to this flood and gestures such as this is helping a lot of people get thru this devastation.

Thoughts and prayers my man. Can't even imagine this.

One thing to keep in mind, although terrible, you lost material possessions. Wood, brick, and mortar. That can be rebuilt. The area will bounce back, no doubt in my mind.

I know a lot of people in Louisiana helped out after the 2011 tornadoes. So it's certainly an easy call to help Louisiana in their time of need.

I've spoke with several of my co workers in the area and it is devestating. This isnt gonna fix everything but it can help some. Football is football but after you've been through things like this it kind of seems back burner. Good folks down there and yall will be back on you feet in short order. Lets start the process of getting this squared away first and then we can enjoy the season. first things first.

Hope ya'll are doing the best you can over there. University of South Alabama sent a truck over as well. LA has taken more than its lion's share of mess lately and I hope that this football season will give you guys an outlet to have something to cheer for. Efforts from south Alabama coming ya'lls way. Take care over there. God bless.

Not to get political but we need more of this, people helping people, because our leadership will not. I hope this small gesture from Bama brightens the day for families in LA.

We hate each other on the field. But when shite gets real, I'd be disappointed if we didn't send some semis to Baton Rouge. Rivalries have to be pushed aside when people's lives have been ruined.

There was more than just materials taken. 12 families lost a loved one, in a truly horrific way

I'm aware, and it's awful. The OP didn't appear to be one of them, and I was speaking specifically to him

Me, my wife, and our 2 kids were fortunate enough that we stay in a complex that had other apartments available. We got another 3 bedroom 2 days ago. We lost all of our living room furniture and bedroom furniture but was able to save plenty of clothing because our place have a washer and a dryer already in it so we're thankful.

We are helping other people who weren't as fortunate as us now so say a prayer for them.

No. "we" don't. There's nothing but respect between those kids. We don't even hate each other as fans. We hate to see our team lose. That's about the extent of hate involved in college football.

Did you even lose your cars? Because that exactly describes me, and my mom's situation. We had to flee on somebody else's truck to a cousin's house before going to my apartment.
