Stay safe over there. If they tell you to leave, leave. You can replace your house and household goods. Can't replace you or loved ones.

I agree, back up your valuables and get out now. Oh and if you need to leave something, put it in the dishwasher to leave. It is water tight, but to be extra sure nothing bumps it open, duct tape it closed.

Good luck y'all and be safe.......

Thanks Phil.

The biggest concern will be the amount of rain it dumps on the area.

Gonna be an interesting one. I’m glad I’m elevated, I’ll say that. Downtown NOLA was a shite show yesterday.

Thanks phil4bama. This thread is a breath of fresh air (no pun intended :)
Even though SELA may not get the eye, we still have to worry about coastal flooding, some temporary street flooding (esp. in Orleans Parish), and the biggest threat - tornadoes.

Thanks and stay safe everyone....

Yeah I practically live on the river and it's been near capacity the whole year. Flooding yesterday was insane but it was 8 inches in like an hour. Hopefully they're building this all up to something that it isnt.

My home is 2 blocks for the lake. That levee don’t have much more room to go.

My brother lived a block off Lakeshore pre-Katrina, off of Wisner. Down the street from Renaldo Turnbull, I think.

If you're close to the levee, you might be ok as far as property... he got wind damage and the crap from not having power for a month or so. Next street back, I think flooded. Further away from the levee you get, the lower the land was.

He still sold at a loss and moved up to BR for work, as NOLA got mauled.

That’s mostly true, but Katrina happened that way because of the levees breaking. On Wednesday, there were many places close to the river that had severely flooded roads Uptown, where I live. 15-20 inches of rain is what they’re saying, so I don’t think any of us are in the clear.

Let's just all hope this tropical mischief turns out to be a bunch of wishcasting by the meteorologists.

Even if not, it's probably a good idea for all those in the path to start making a hunker plan. Don't just wait 'till the last moment to work out the hunkering logistics.

Be smart and hunker hard and hunker safe.

Appreciate it, Cousin Gump. The thought of thousands of people getting flooded out again is amazingly depressing. A lot of people REALLY struggle after these events and never really get whole again . I had a close fraternity brother from LSU who became profoundly clinically depressed and drank himself to death after Katrina. Dude was brilliant. Many people can’t cope with loss.

I would think hunkering down would increase drownings... Stay afloat baws. I'll keep ya in my prayers.
