AAU basketball is dirty as frick but that doesn't mean every HC is directly involved in the dirt.
Most coaches are smart enough to keep it at arm's length enough to have plausible deniability. Everyone likes to point to Cal as being dirty because he's fled from sanctions at both UMass and Memphis but nothing was ever tied to him.
Wade just apparently does his own dirty work. Not sure it's smart to keep a guy as HC who's that much of a liability.

It is not the FBI job to police college basketball. There are far more important places to focus FBI resources. And there are a lot more than 6 or 8 teams with issues. Don’t really care. LSU will be fine with or without WWade.

Ok Rick.

Aren't AAU programs basically the go-between?
AAU used to be a good program to help Olympic athletes in sports like track and field participate in big functions. They have ruined college basketball and now travel baseball is ruining baseball.

Jerry Tarkanian quoted in "The Scheme"
"9 out of 10 schools are cheating, and the one that's not is in last place".
Truer words have never been said about college basketball.

Most coaches aren't actively "doing" it. They let their intermediaries handle the dirty work. But all of the big programs are doing it. Nice verbal gymnastics by Rick Barnes, who, let's be honest, is cheating his arse off, too.

Tark also said....“The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky they're going to give Cleveland State another year of probation.”

March Madness is a $1 billion moneymaker each year, except for this one. To really clean it up they would have to target some very big name coaches and programs, thus keeping them out of the tournament.
Could you imagine a tourney without Kansas, Duke, Michigan State, UNC, Villanova, Kentucky, Auburn, etc.
Attendance and viewers for a tourney lacking these teams would be abyssmal.

No one ever mentions that he said that while UK was being investigated for malfeasance, for which it was ultimately hammered.
ETA: or that he was quoting Abe Lemons.

Barnes is in bed by 6:30 P.M. but some on here think he’s out brokering deals himself a la William Wade.

I would like to congratulate Rick Barnes on running a clean, outstanding program where the players commit to his program to be a student athlete and focus academically on the opportunities provided to broaden their intellectual curiosity and enhance future employment opportunities.
oh, and

There's a whole lot of coaches I could go down the line and name and tell you they were in the business for a long time and they didn't cheat, they haven't cheated and they won't cheat. I've been doing this for over 40 years and we all get reputations and it's mostly based on how we do things and go about our business. Believe me, there are more coaches that don't do what was on the other night than do."
@LSU fans get in heeeeeeere
He’s probably not wrong. I mean, there are how many college MBB programs in the country? 350? So, look at the bottom 200-250 programs. Those would be the ones that aren’t cheating.
They’re also never going to crack the top 75-100.
