Guess I've just been misunderstood throughout. I'm not fishing/flaming Miles, I just acknowledged it was a ballsy/close call how it happened.

It was a 36 yard FG with the best kicker in the SEC who was hitting that distance consistently. Miles went for a pass that if not caught would have run the clock out and lost the game. Miles made a stupid call but lucked out.

You don't know shite. Colt David was very shaky at that point in the season, a 40 yard FG was not easy to make. People forget that Colt David missed a FG with time expiring against Kentucky that caused the game to go to OT.

Miles made the right call. He went for a TD so he wouldn't have to rely on the kicker.

I know David missed a couple of FGs against Florida earlier that year, but the one at Kentucky was from 57 yards and he barely missed it. It's hard to claim that as a sign of his being "shaky".

Haven't read the whole thread but felt like I'd chime in.

The two plays are similar... dunno if I'd call them the "same situation."

At any rate I think Richt wore his extra tight panties today and came to the wrong decision on numerous fronts. If we ONLY consider the first OT... leaving out all terrible decisions during regulation, running some/any type of play that was more of a ball control short gain play would have been preferable to kneeling on the ball like a bitch. I'd have been ok with a play/action fade/back shoulder throw that leaves little opportunity for turnover as well... worst case if you throw to the side lines you should be able to prevent any type of defensive score and you're in the same spot as missing the FG. Add to this that our FG kicker hasn't missed left in quite some time. His tendency is to push them right. Setting up in the middle of the field was just a waste and having a true ST coach would have helped with this nuance.

My biggest issue was how we played on offense in the 2 following OT possessions. WTF were they doing? Did they forget that you can get 1st downs in OT? Every play was either a shite arse run up the middle or a throw to the endzone... The play where AM is scrambling right and Carlton Thomas (I think) is wide open for 6-7 yards with space in front... why not take the check down. WORST case you're looking at 3rd and 4 or so instead of 3rd and 13 obvious pass. If Bobo is still there next season I may not watch a game. Our schedule is bad enough as is, I don't need to watch a battle of the inept. Richt will still be there because you can't fire a coach that wins 10 games over the regular season... just don't see how that sends the kind of message that will bring in elite coaching talent. Gruden sure seemed like he was going to piss himself talking about the talent on the UGA roster... no chance he'd coach there though I'm sure.

2007 LSU-Auburn: In regulation, LSU down 1. LSU in FG range with 6 or 7 seconds left in the game and 1 timeout. The subsequent play would end the game, no matter the outcome.

I love how the haters like to exaggerate. There was over 20 seconds left in the game when LSU broke the huddle and there were 4 seconds left in the game when the ball was caught. We had a timeout left to use if the ball had dropped incomplete.

Uh, Miles won and incomplete pass would have had 3 seconds left on the clock; try again.

"Les had no clue where the clock was when the play was called or when the play started. Go find the YouTube of the immediate post game interview. Total confusion."

And yet he has enough of a clue to stomp a mud hole in State's sorry arse EVERY year.

A field goal of 40 or so yards is never a sure thing, even with a reliable kicker.

Don't tell a Bama fan that.
