Its no secret the SEC wanted Virginia Tech over Mizzou when it expanded to 14 other than the Hokies refusing to budge the only other thing that killed it was UVA and VT being tied together by legislature so if VT joined UVA would've most likely had to come too

if Mizzou hadn't been looking for another conference at the time A&M was admitted would the SEC have gone full hardball on Tech?

A&M was a decent addition, Mizzou blows, too yankee. I thought UCF or South Florida would have been better. Problem is A&M just sucks so bad at everything, uhhhggg...

you're contradicting yourself here..are you saying should we have taken both the VA schools instead of what we got?

Eh they should've gone for NC State geographically speaking

VT was never really available. Had they been, the SEC absolutely would have chosen the Hokies. Mizzou was kinda the last girl at the dance without a date after breaking up with the Big 12, but not getting asked to dance with the Big 10 like she thought she would. We had an open seat in our limo, so it was either Mizzou or West Virginia, and Mizzou seemed like a slightly better option at the time.

If I had my way I would have preferred NC State and someone like louisville. It doens't make sense to me AS A FAN to keep trying ot make the league harder on itself to cannibalize itself. Fortuantely missouri hasn't moved the needle there much and Texas A&M has been a perfect mid-level team as well. But it's hilarious people wanting to add clemson/fsu/texas/etc. It's pointless.

I realize NC State wouldn't be allowed because of UNC/Duke but I think they would have been a great fit. Stick them in the east and Louisville in the west (also get the added bonus of now having UK/UL be intraconference) and call it a day.

Send Missouri to the Big Ten, Nebraska to the Big 12, Louisville to the ACC, and North Carolina State to the SEC.

Hasn’t Aggie won 300% more sec championships since joining than LSU? Over 3x as many? I’m just a simple Clemson fan but it seems like they are better in every way than LSU for the SEC

Didn’t they beat Alabama more recently than LSU too?

As an outsider I could still probably come up with at least 72-74 more reasons your post is idiotic

But who am I to point these things out

They are in. I do wish they would get moved to the West and be done with it. Mizzou needs to get to their Josey Wales roots and be a proud, contributing member of the SEC.

Being from NC, State and Duke really don't have a rivalry. I'd imagine had they joined they would've dropped Duke and pulled an UGA GT, UK Louisville and have a cross conference rivalry

The TV. Market is the one glaring need for the SEC. Missouri fit that need.
Also the pro baseball teams and pro football teams that will be drafting players from the SEC teams more likely over non SEC teams if comparable players.

Is there a reason UCF wasnt taken into consideration? Orlando and Disney and money and what not. It could have made for even more money honestly.

Instead I would’ve liked Clemson & Ga Tech both in the East while moving Vandy to the West.

Same state/division rivalries between Bama-Aub, ole Miss-Miss St, USC-Clem, UGA-Tech.
2 in the east, 2 in the west.
It’s makes the East better with Clemson but they keep their rent-a-win with Ga Tech.

Or perhaps FSU instead of GT.
An extended AL-GA border would divide east-west.
My next move would be get rid of Arkansas’ bitchass

FSU>GaTech. FSU for baseball and football. Would have been really cool and you keep the UF FSU rivalry

Original wish list = TAMU + VT (1 goes east, 1 goes west)

Once the B12 raid started = TAMU + OU (Boren wanted OSU, so that died)

Gee B1G play was to get Nebraska (12) then Kansas + Missouri (14) but other B1G play meant Nebraska, then head east instead.

ESPN was not going to let the SEC raid the ACC if it meant the ACC would die and some properties would wind up in the B1G with FOX. Since the SEC was the "firewall" protecting the ACC, not sure VT was ever really in play.

You can forget about Ga Tech ever being allowed back into the SEC. Ain’t gonna happen. UGA and AU would never ever allow that to happen
