AU’s was over a century ago, when Mike Donahue left API for LSU after the 1922 season

For over 100 years no one else has wanted the Auburn head coach.

I believe it was Harry Mehre to Ole Miss after 1937 season.
The dude who followed him, Joel Hunt, was our coach for a year and went 5-4-1 and coached at Wyoming the year after and went 0-7-1. Idk whether he left or was fired or whatevs, didn't coach after that season.
One of the two.

Dan Devine left Mizzou in 1970, but it was to coach the Green Bay Packers. He came back to college football after that, and coached Notre Dame.

Paul "Bear" Bryant was the last head coach at A&M to leave for another coaching job at another school. All of the rest were either fired, resigned, retired or went to the NFL.

I guess technically speaking it would be 2001 and George O'leary leaving for Notre Dame but that only lasted a few days and then he ended up in the NFL. Prior to that it was Bill Curry in 1986 going to Bama which was awesome at least for Tech (we hired Bobby Ross and 4 years later won a National Championship) and also for Auburn since Curry couldn't win the Iron Bowl. The only other time we ever had a coach leave for another school was John Heisman in 1919 leaving for Penn due to a divorce settlement.
