Picturing Les Miles as Tennessee’s next coach? It sounds like it won’t happen. On Tuesday, Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel wrote about open coaching jobs throughout the country. As part of his report, he touched on Tennessee’s situation as the Vols re-boot their coaching search with former coach Phillip Fulmer as the school’s new athletic director. Per Thamel’s report, the former LSU coach isn’t a candidate to become Tennessee’s next leader, despite a report surfacing earlier that Fulmer had made contact with Miles about the job.

WTF Tennessee? He was the best coach candidate!

Whether or not Miles becomes UT's HC, Thamel is still a POS.

Les is a real big family guy and he is getting paid $15 mil to stay at home with his family as long as he attempts to find a job. Why do people not understand this?

Les has to feign interest in openings to keep getting his 175K/month buyout check. He has no legitimate interest in taking a job right now.

Les Miles has not denied interest in the job and espn radio just listed him as a possible candidate, as I type this they just said it live on air. Les is currently an espn employee too. I don't know anything you guys don't, but the people who would know are not denying it. I don't believe this report and I believe he is indeed a candidate.

I'd be perfectly ok with this one if I was a Tenn fan. I'm not saying Les is god awful but holy hell what a boring arse hire.

Boring? He is one of the most entertaining coaches I have ever seen. His pressers are legendary.

That wouldn't surprise me. He said he wouldn't do that in his press conference last week, but there have been reports this week that he is telling potential coaches and recruits that he is going to be "heavily involved" in the football program.

I have a feeling that might scare off enough potential hires that he will be "forced" to step in for a year and address the coaching search again after the 2018 season.

I meant boring as in such a known entity already and used up.

And as far as what you were talking about, I know I'm in the minority but I'd rather listen to a coked up Gilbert Gottfried than listen to Les- I just don't find it funny someone old playing dumb.

Been thinking this since Friday. He will do an exhaustive search and determine there is no one out there that has what it takes to bring back the Vols to their once great stature in college football. With that, he will humbly offer to take on the task of 'temporarily' assuming the duties of HC and will bring in Vol great Tee Martin to be OC and groom him for the future. He loves UT and will make the great sacrifice to get them back where they belong.

It is like something out of a bad movie script.

If the post was dumb, you would have ignored as such. However, it has a tinge of possible reality to it and that would make Tennessee the laughing stock of college football.

"Fired Tennessee football coach rehires himself in same position."

That's the point of the post, and you walked right into it. Stupid butt-chugger. Too easy.

"No. I will not serve as the interim head coach or as the head coach. I have done my duty that way and I enjoyed it very much"
