Remember when the media vacillated over Scott Cochran leaving Alabama for Georgia?

Kirk Herbstreit was absolutely beside himself:

quote:

This is a SIGNIFICANT loss for Bama and ridiculous coup by Kirby and UGA!
Is this the first sign of a “changing of the guard” in the SEC???

quote:

For a season yes. I’m talking long term.
That was a result of an OUTSTANDING LSU team that would not be denied. This, has the potential, to be the first REAL cracks in the Saban era. This was his right hand. Assistants can come and go but not Cochran. This is a blow.

What did Saban do? He went out and found himself better coaches with more advanced and modern techniques. As a result - well - let's let the old man tell you himself:

quote:

“Last year our injuries were down by about 50 %, soft tissue injuries. We increased explosive movement during the season by almost 5 percent, which we had not done for several years. “ -Nick Saban on the adjustments to the strength and conditioning program

I realize it's fun trying to predict when Nick Saban is going to finally drop off, but most Alabama fans could have told you (and did tell you) that Scott Cochran had fallen off over the two or three years prior to his departure to Georgia.

I think it worked out pretty well for all parties involved (which is what a lot of us said at the time).

But can these new coaches scream really loudly at stuff?

I can’t speak to the decline in Cochran’s results, but his schtick was old years ago.

No one should ever take anything ESPN says seriously. It’s best just not to listen or watch them at all.

More than that, they are the authors of modern S&C and is the model that everyone's copying and basically every NFL team wanted them.

Ironically, Cochran also left because Saban wouldn’t promote him to ST coach, and Alabama’s kicking shot to 100% on the year.

Scott Cochran is a 2000 - 2013 strength coach God trying to make it in the 2020’s. Sorry bro, you’re too old school, and the technology and info have passed you by. You didn’t adapt.

Lot of Bammers in here angry. I remember last year they were starting threads every time a Georgia player was injured saying it was Cochran. Too retarded to realize he’s the ST coach.

Georgia had the best special teams unit in the SEC last year, but apparently we just hired him to annoy Saban, right?

I thought it was so we could harness the power of the sun to direct bright lights into Saban's eyes via his head
