CEH is a little better than average IMO. It's the offense. ANY NFL RB will thrive in that offense.
Their leading back last year had 711 total yards and 7 total TDs.

Javier Arenas comes to mind.
I don't think he ever got much of a shot in the secondary under Shula, and I don't recall Bama fans ever really considering him a DB until Saban arrived. In 2006, stats show that he had zero tackles. I don't think he even saw the field on defense, even though he did return kicks every game. He turned into a pretty damn good CB under Saban. He had a pick six in 2008 and 5 interceptions in 2009, including interceptions against both Florida in the SECCG and Texas in the BCSCG.

Here's another LSU tiger that played way bigger than his size, Josh Reed. I'm sure there are bama fans that remember him. He was the SEC's 1st Biletnikoff winner.

David Palmer
The Deuce is loose...
I was at a game in Oxford vs Ole Miss when Palmer played. As a State fan I had no dog in the race. Ole Miss was killing Bama's QB's. Ole Miss was dominating on defense that day and winning the game until they knocked so many QB's out that Palmer had to play QB. He just got the snap and took off most plays and Ole Miss had no answer. Man what a game that was!

Also isn't CEH like 5'7 and the best RB ever Emmitt Smith like 5'9?

The best RB ever was 5'8. Emmitt Smith was 5'9 though.

He was unstoppable. Hate that he's sitting out this year but it looks like the Chiefs have a pretty good substitute.

J.J. McClesky was 5'6, 135 coming out of High School and started at UT by the end of his Freshman year. He played 7 seasons in the NFL at New Orleans and Arizona (he was 5'8 and 180 by the time he left college).

I doubt any recruiters said that to him, as he was the #1 rated RB in his class.

Is that why their leading rusher last year had under 500 yards for the season?

Ole Miss TE Evan Engram. Had offers from Air Force and Wake Forrest. Did a camp at ole miss and Freeze offered. He didn’t fit the mold of a typical TE but his speed made him impossible to defend

Dante Hall. The Human Joystick.

Mine was too small for big time college football but went from Louisiana's Northwestern State to a stellar career with the Houston Oilers of the AFL, Charlie Tolar!
They called him the "Human Cannonball" at 5'6" and 199 lbs!

quote:This is why you can't pick RB just on size/speed. Fournette completely blows away Clyde in those categories.
CEH is in the perfect situation but I knew that he would perform well on any team. I'm a fan of Clyde and KC.
On the touchdown run, Fournette would have blasted straight into the safety or linebacker, who being an NFL quality player, would make the tackle. Clyde threw a cut on him that made him sit down on the turf and then could have walked in for the score.

Being a little bit shorter as a RB is not a bad thing, IMO. Short and compact is harder to tackle.
yep, and being as short as him makes it easier to hide behind the 6'3" offensive linemen, especially as quick as he cuts. It's hard to see with the sidelines camera angles, but some of the cuts CEH makes at the LOS are absurd. You'll see him cut 6 feet in either direction in the blink of an eye to find holes. He's also has an uncanny ability to keep low and his legs moving to move piles, which you wouldn't think he should be able to do like he does at 207 pounds. He may not have great top end speed, but I can't think of many backs playing right now that can change directions as quickly as he can and so fluidly.

Shaud Williams for Bama.
He was small and slight ( football wise)
